At the beginning of the movie, the native Indians hunted in the jungle, and the prey fell to the ground. The Indians mourned for them religiously. At the end of the movie, Jinkajia was the last soldier of the Mohican tribe to mourn the dead son. "The great Holy Spirit and the creator of life, a warrior is like an arrow shot into the scorching sun, shooting at you, welcome him... "But the contradiction between the Native Americans and the British and French colonists, the contradiction between "civilization" and "barbarism", the awe of life and nature, and the tragedy of war are not the themes of the film. The film just built a 1757 North American British and French colonial war. The stage is used to set off the ordinary love story between the white natives and the daughters of colonial military officers.
In the first half of the film, the background is magnificent. An epic revolution of faith and life seems to be about to begin. The British and French colonists fought and ruled over the homes of the native Indians. The native ethnic groups also voluntarily or were coaxed into their respective groups. As their masters, fight each other as hired militias. The lives and deaths of the individual families of the colonized Indians and the interests of the British and French empires are the scars of civilization that can never be healed. Wars between the British and French colonists are raging, and you die. The heroic and vigorous protagonist Hawkeye appeared as a hero of the Indians. The sentence "We are not your colonists, and naturally not your militia" seems to be a precursor to the struggle. Being white, he was adopted by the Indians in a native way. The big experience is a drama and tragedy that once added a layer of identity, but the mission that the film allows Hawke to complete is only to protect the safety of the daughters of colonial officers! The artillery battle came to an abrupt end with the simple and courteous negotiation etiquette of Britain and France!
The movie is called "Kona and Alice's Love Journey in America" instead of "The Last Mohican". The two Mohicans in the movie, Jin Kaga and his son Okas, appeared in the scene and had few dialogues, but they were just two helper roles following Hawke. As for the main story, the first half of the movie is about how to safely escort the two ladies, Kona and Alice to their father, and how the second half of the story is how to ensure that the two girls, Kona and Alice, escape the clutches of the magua villains.
Huokei and Kena fell in love at first sight and fell in love at second sight. After a simple ambiguity, they reached the point of a kiss and inseparable from life and death. It can be said to be simple, direct, and enthusiastic, but the relationship between the two seems to be lacking in details. With portrayal, the love affair appears vague and casual. Secondly, the obstacles to the relationship between the two are simply external conflicts, more time is rushed and unable to stay together. The two seem to be in a situation of running and fleeing all the time. The lack of emotional portrayal of the two protagonists makes this relationship. It floats on the surface and cannot directly reach people's hearts. The external war and the turmoil of life and death have not been internalized into the emotional turmoil of the heart, and it will not be impressive.
The extraordinary love in the war years is not non-existent. Taking love as the main theme of the movie is not that you can’t create an excellent movie. It’s just that the love of this movie is too simple and mediocre. The detailed depiction gave way to the war. The final result is War is not deep, love is not moving, nondescript, disappointed and boring. The original film was 3 hours, but Fox asked the director to cut the film to 2 hours. I wonder if the missing part can make up for the current regret.
