When we were in school, we always discussed the impact of economic globalization on China (inward import). This film allows people to see the influence of China on Americans in the process of globalization (exporting out).
What I like about this movie is that it is talking about something that happened in the past few years - Fuyao set up a factory in the United States and what happened after that. Be impartial, let you hear and see the voices of American workers, and let you know some of the thoughts of Chinese employees and leadership. Not everything is black and white. There must be someone who is right and who is wrong. It makes you think while watching, which is especially good.
When watching the feature film, there are probably two feelings: embarrassment and sadness.
The most embarrassing point is:
- In the Chinese factory, everyone lined up to take a break and shout slogans. Except for the one who gave the order, everyone else had no soul at that moment, right?
- Later, the Chinese president of the American factory was very good at English, but his style was Chinese style. He said at the staff meeting "everyone get 2 dollars more, isn't that great? we can do it, we are the one" It's really embarrassing that the foreigners below are expressionless at all.
Sad point:
- The foreigner who had a good relationship with Wong was not spared from being fired: I had invited my Chinese colleagues to play guns before, and I am very grateful for this job and the skills I learned from my Chinese colleagues.
- People on the assembly line in Chinese factories talking about their children, people picking up glass with their bare hands from discarded glass piles, life doesn't give them any other choice.
I have worked in the human resources department of Huawei's overseas company, and I have experienced the embarrassment and sadness myself. I know how hard the Chinese expatriate employees work, and I also understand that foreigners may never understand why Chinese employees work so hard. My human resources manager is an Italian-born Canadian, very kind, but there are dark clouds under his eyes, and a sigh can be heard when the door of the office is closed. Due to the cultural/legal constraints from overseas and the rigid requirements of Shenzhen headquarters, the corporate culture of overseas Chinese companies is inevitably deformed and mutated under the dual pressure. Hey.
In the past few years, some domestic friends have told me, go back to China, the domestic development is good, the life is convenient, and you can have everything you want 24 hours a day! I thought to myself that all of this is due to the low labor cost, and the convenience they enjoy is based on the bitterness of the wage earners. In the next cycle, China will also face the same problems abroad. The labor cost will increase, and the price service will inevitably be Raise the price. But I could be wrong because automation is coming.
ps Chairman Cao Cao surprised me near the end of the movie. He thought about it: he was happier when he was a child, and there were frogs and cicadas on the land where he lived. Now everything he did is right or wrong, and whether it damaged the environment and ecology. "am ia contributor or a sinner?" There is no absolute answer, right?
