Mong Kok Carmen

Wong Kar-wai's debut novel. Filled with a youthful aura that is hard to see now. Six years later, in the forests of Chongqing, the fireworks of Hong Kong's mortal world could not stop pouring out of the picture, but the madness of the year was lost. In Carmen, Mongkok, the city, and the men and women in the city, fighting and killing, are all simple enough to be summed up in a few words. But every time I want to draw a full stop, I can't help but feel disappointed.

The name of the French TF1 version is openly on the disc, but the subtitles cannot be found everywhere. However, relying on my broken Cantonese listening ability, I can still read it closely (thanks TVB here, thank you sister Zhen and other nonsense).

Brother Hua, played by Andy Lau, is a young and bewildered boy who came out to walk around the world when he was a teenager. Jacky Cheung plays Brother Hua's slender guy, nicknamed "Black Fly". Five years ago, Andy was still the guard of Genghis Khan in the 83 version of Legend of the Condor Heroes, a little dragon without lines. But in the blink of an eye, it has become the idol of the common people. And what no one expected is that he has been dating year after year, and there is a strong tendency to continue dating. Andy in the 1980s had rounded arms, and the lines of the muscles on his legs were clearly visible. His face is round, and when he smiles, there is a shadow of Chow Yun-fat between his brows. In the play, he swept the stage with his brothers with wide-eyed anger, flipped the table with a knife, and his aura was beyond the reach of ordinary people. Jacky Cheung in 1988 had been popular in the Hong Kong music scene for a long time before. However, he has never officially set foot in the film and television with the hat of "king of music", but his image on the big screen is always amazing. For example, this "black fly" who is foolish and unwilling to be looked down upon all his life. People with low self-esteem tend to refuse help from others. Even the help from Big Brother Jianghu is more painful than death for them.

Maggie Cheung played Brother Hua's cousin, went out of Lantau Island to Mong Kok to see a doctor, and stayed at her cousin's house temporarily. Maggie Cheung has a round face. Obvious fat. But it's always because of youth, and the baby fat just sets off the young girl in the play. Almost no makeup, no fancy clothes, a single pair of large, black pupils, like a bunch of daisies sent to the nose, the faint fragrance immediately rushed up. Cousin and Brother Hua have a secret love, but after a few days together, once they are separated, they can't help but miss them in their hearts. My cousin took the car and boat all the way to Lantau Island, and naturally stayed at my cousin's place. It was a quiet and sweet summer. But as soon as the play started, I was desperate for this relationship. Because love is compared with brotherhood, the latter can make people die, but the former cannot. Andy Lau's lines also said, "I know myself best, and I can't give you any promises." Men who can't make promises, whether they don't want to, can't, or don't dare, can only reap short-lived love. Brother Hua and his old lover were only one child who had been turned into a mass of blood. The old lover had already married someone else's wife, and Brother Hua could only make a light "oh" and ran to another street in the heavy rain. Many times, for many things, we can only reluctantly say "oh", and even asking "so you are here" seems redundant and out of place.

The last street violence seemed like a gorgeous ending. But the rudimentary equipment does not frighten a child of my age. The level of blood and blood seems to be not even enough for PG-13 now. But the coexistence of forbearance and tyranny is very touching. But Wan Ziliang, who is ruthless and ruthless on the screen, why can't he see him now? In the end, the "black fly" died, because of the blatant shooting of a suspect, and died under the random guns of the police. Brother Hua also died, because he helped "Wufei" to make up a few shots, and was shot in the back of the head by the police. "Wufei" is no longer a "fishball guy" who has to worry about "going ghosts" all day long, he is someone who can be on TV in newspapers. As for Brother Hua, who fell to the ground, there was only one flashback in his mind: a panicked and enthusiastic kiss with Maggie Cheung in the phone booth. Then, his eyes suddenly opened wide, reflecting the blue of the sky.

As Tears Go By quotes

  • Wah: People like us don't have tomorrows

  • Wah: I did a lot of things for our godfather too. By the age of 14, I was already getting paid to kill. I've got more guts than most guys, right? But look at me now. I'm just an ordinary guy!

Fly: At least you were a hotshot for a while! But what about me? What about me? Everyone looks down on me. Does that make you happy? People think I'm nothing, like some stray dog just following you around! Did you know that? I'd rather be a hero for one day than go on being a fly all my life!
