It is not easy to hold an independent spirit in the film environment of the United States to this day. Broken flowers, with a clear ending (frustrated middle-aged man being played with a joke letter), allows the audience to patiently see the ending amidst bursts of laughter and tingling pain. With a final sigh, youth passed away at the speed of sound 20 years ago, leaving only a black hole of endless loneliness.
