kidnapping

The movie "Kindergarten Teacher" is about Lisa, a kindergarten teacher, who once had an unfinished dream of being a poet. Although she signed up for a poetry class, her talent was limited, which became her regret. But I overheard Jimmy, the child in the garden, reading his own poems. The simplicity is very moving. She saw herself in Jimmy and was determined to nurture her with her heart, despite the opposition of Jimmy's family, until she finally fulfilled her wish in the form of kidnapping.

The final kidnapping reached the climax of the movie, which is a metaphor for the 'kidnapping' in parent-child education and school education, and arranges the child's life with one's own wishes, but no matter what talent, it must grow in reality after all, once it is separated from the needs of the child And the reality of growing up, is kidnapping. When Jimmy called the police that he was kidnapped, he also reminded adults that when we are doing good for our children, children are actually scared and want help.

At the end of the film, Jimmy says that a poem comes to mind, and the open ending raises a question:

Will Jimmy's talents be as boring as exams and accomplishments, or will they still bring him joy when he's selectively focused?

Will Jimmy's poems please adults, or will they come from the real feelings of his life?

"The Kindergarten Teacher", which has a higher vision than ability, was finally confused by the gap between the two. Fortunately, this work criticizing the modern education system has caught some points. This parent, who was lost in the mid-life crisis, captured curiosity, vitality and beauty from her child. Unfortunately, the seeds she planted with good intentions eventually bore fruit that backfired. Obviously, she has not yet understood how to protect her pure and sensitive intuition in this age of consumerism. This is also the question that the film asks the audience.

3.5 Some plots don’t need to be edited and don’t like (comments on other people’s movies are always eloquent, and when you think of your own book, it’s a mess)

The Kindergarten Teacher quotes

  • Jimmy Roy: The bull stood alone in the backyard. So dark. I opened the door and stepped out. Wind in the branches. He watched me, Blue eyes. He kept breathing to stay alive. I didn't want him. I was just a boy. Say yes, Say yes, anyway.

  • Lisa Spinelli: Talent is so fragile and so rare. And our culture does everything to crush it. I mean even at four or five, they're coming into school attached to their phones, talking only about TV shows and video games. It's a materialistic culture, and it doesn't support art, or language, or observation. Even my own children, who are great, they don't read. You know, you think maybe it's just a phase. But I worry that it's something larger. A lack of curiosity. A lack of reflection. No one has space for poetry.
