Autobiographical movies are a genre I am relatively unfamiliar with. In other words, it seems that autobiographical movies are a rare genre of movies. So two days after watching the movie, I was suddenly moved by this movie in a mess. What I was thinking about was : How lucky does one have to be in one's life, so that when looking back in his later years, he does not have too many regrets and regrets, and even if he looks back, he can still face it calmly.
"Pain and Glory" is a very personal work. There are many "fruits" at this stage. Almodovar looks back on the past through the film to find "causes". The purpose of counting the past is not to find the answer, he just wants to know himself better, in the way that suits him best. Therefore, when I was watching this movie, I could feel his tenderness through the screen, the colors were no longer so gorgeous, the plot was not so twisted, and the thoughts were not so hidden, everything was a person's Story, Almodovar is a storyteller, he tells stories about himself lightly.
Before watching the movie, I did my homework and made up for the two movies that were also slightly autobiographical in nature, namely "Law of Desire" and "Bad Educational Desire", plus "Pain and Glory". Almodóvar's directorial trilogy, which vary in degree of autobiography. The first two films are full of drama, with exquisite scripts and rich memories, focusing more on same-sex love and the stories derived from it; while "Pain and Glory" is very bland compared to the two, with fewer highlights of the story and less narrative style. Not so intense, the whole film no longer just focuses on same-sex love, but also adds family, addiction, and childhood; on a certain level, Almodovar uses subtraction to look back on the past with a purer mentality, which is not too much. Forcefully, in a tone that seems to tell someone else's story about everything about yourself,
And I am obsessed with such Almodovar.
The three films actually look like wine tasting. The first glass is a young red wine with a less full body and a rougher taste; the second glass is an old red wine with a strong body and a long finish; the last glass seems to be the end Desserts are less persistent in terms of taste or body, but are generally more supple and more approachable sweet red wines.
Watching "Pain and Glory" is actually a very special experience. I remember that before watching the film that day, I prepared a slightly serious and dignified mood. To my surprise, the whole film was very easy to watch. There will be laughter, which I did not expect. I thought Almodovar would make a slightly heavier and more distant film as usual, but this time he breaks out of his own frame and talks about his past in a softer and more ordinary tone, so I might To put it this way: As an introductory film, "Pain and Glory" may not be so suitable in terms of timing, but in terms of the overall viewing experience, he is probably the most suitable one.
As I mentioned above, this movie has four themes: family, addiction, love, childhood, each theme has its own sadness and interest, it may be a bit contradictory to say, but in fact, this is our life. ! There are sour and astringent and difficult to cross, but of course there are also sweet and beautiful things. The ups and downs make up our lives; therefore, you may understand that the experience of watching this movie is like a part of me. In life, sometimes I cry when I laugh and laugh, and laugh with the crowd before I can see it clearly.
What I especially like is the description of the family in this film, especially he puts a lot of space on the theme of "mother", which may be particularly related to my own experience. Modova is very similar, the role of "mother" has a very important position in our lives.
Probably because my relationship with my mother is very close, so I still can't accept the fact that I will part with this relationship, I don't know how much it will affect me, I don't know how I will say goodbye , I don't know what I will think of when I think about all this, and I suddenly understand that life is actually composed of many uncertainties, so it has the value and meaning of one-to-one meeting.
What impressed me was that when he took his mother to live in the city, they chatted about the details of the funeral in the room, what to wear, what to wear, to go back to the country, where to be buried... Unexpectedly Yes, there is no smell of death, no seriousness at all, everything is so relaxed, and even a little funny, I see him holding his mother's hand lightly from time to time, and there is no trace of loss in his tone, as if he has accepted what is about to happen. everything that happens.
I often think that there are certain emotions in life that you can't experience unless you experience them, and the movie gave me a chance to glimpse how others deal with it.
Will I also face parting like this? Maybe.
In fact, I really wish I could say goodbye in this way.
This movie is actually very relaxing. He gave me a feeling of using movies to make up for my life. Whether it was in the face of past love, or past work, those regrets planted due to youth and frivolity, he chose to look back and face it. Everything, and those stories have become smooth over time. When we meet again and the stories continue to be written, both parties may be able to break away from the past framework and face them with a more mature mentality.
The whole film gives me a very moving feeling, but it is mixed with very relaxed emotions. "Laughing with tears" is probably the most suitable description.
Almodovar tells you what is in his heart. He takes his heart and lungs to present his truest self to the viewer, whether it is the connection between his childhood life and the current stage, the huge influence his mother brought him along with him, and the Reconciliation of work difficulties and creative bottlenecks, as well as making up for the shortcomings of past love through deep conversations...
In deep words, he said shallowly, when Almodovar finally used the identity of others to say everything in his heart, he finally appeared in the last scene.
Movies were his medicine, and he saved him.
