I think "Eclipse" is a very interesting, interpretive and philosophical film. It uses several montages, crowd scenes, and a lot of imagery to express or imply individual/marriage/society to some extent. The "eclipse" mental state. What is "eclipse"? How to understand? The "eclipse" can be divided into several degrees: the beginning of the eclipse (≈ fresh), half of the eclipse (fresh ≈ necrosis), and the end of the eclipse (≈ necrosis). And the "eclipse" in the film, I think, is more to express half of the eclipse: it is blurry, but also clear, it is riot, it is quiet, it is confusion, and it is chaos. Everything seems to have ended, but it also seems to have just begun. Can't tell the difference between light and dark, beginning and end. This mental state is not only reflected in individuals, but also in marriage and society. As the film rolls with the opening subtitles, there is a passage that transitions from an intense, bright melody to a more muffled melody, ending with a slightly darker drum beat. This piece of music about 30s symbolizes/predicts/predicts the emotional and mental state of the characters in the whole film. In particular, the bright or dark light bulb at the end of the film is the ending point. This seems to be in contrast to the last drum sound of the opening music, but one is in the form of music and the other is in the form of video. The film begins the narrative with the contrast between the individual and marriage, presenting a state of detachment, desire but fear, intense but empty emotional split. Just like the line the heroine said to the hero in the film, "I really wish I could love you more or I didn't know you at all!" Or maybe the heroine and the hero in the film are now kissing each other across a door But there is a transparent glass. There is only a piece of transparent glass between the kiss through glass and the real kiss. Passion and emptiness are only moments apart. And the fantasy and madness of the society are reflected in the crazy stock market and the news report of a man holding a newspaper on the deserted street: A nuclear war broke out in the XX region and there was a short-term peace. The whole country and society fell into a kind of madness and helplessness. The narrative of the film is structured like this: individual ↹ marriage individual ↹ marriage ↘ ↗ society ends.

  • Vittoria: Why do we ask so many questions? Two people shouldn't know each other too well if they want to fall in love. But, then, maybe they shouldn't fall in love at all.

  • Vittoria: As long as we were in love, we understood each other. There was nothing to understand.
