This film tells the story of female writer Leo who used Amanda's pseudonym to write romance novels for more than 20 years. However, she has encountered a bottleneck in her creation or life recently. Her husband who works in the army cheated on her best friend, and her mother and sister had a tense relationship. The nanny is a flamenco dancer who may leave at any time, and the new work is pointed out by the publisher that it does not meet the market's preferences. In all the chaotic life, Leo finds himself through the help and influence of the people around him, and escapes from an unhappy marriage.

Watching this film really saw how perfect the overall structure of the film is as an international director. From the storyline, color matching, costumes, shots, music, etc., it all shows the control of a good director over a film.
The first point worth mentioning is about Almodóvar's insight into women's emotional, family life. Leo misses her husband who is not at home all the year round and has naked sexual desire. When her husband comes home, Leo asks her husband for a positive answer. The sister quarrels with her mother. When her mother takes Leo back to the country, Leo tells her about the lack of sex. The point of view of the cow with bells, and Leo returning to the country and returning to the state of a girl, are all portrayed so vividly.
The second point I have to say is that Almodovar's use of colors for the film, from colors to costumes, works in 1995, and now it seems that the colors and costumes are not outdated at all. The emotion of the whole film is struggling and suppressed, but the coloring is bright and bold, which is also the consistent style of Spanish directors. A few interesting points are that when Leo's husband was coming back, she originally wore a skirt of the same color as her husband's, but changed to a red one before her husband came back. On the one hand, it expressed Leo's sexuality towards her husband. Longing, on the one hand, the color of the skirt is so out of tune with the color of the husband's clothes (implying out of tune with the husband). When Leo's husband came home to take a shower, Leo's blue towel wrapped around his lower body in spite of Leo's eager sexual desire. Leo's husband called Leo's best friend's house. Leo was wearing dark clothes and her best friend was wearing pink. When Leo finally got out of his failed marriage, he went to see angle, wearing red.
The third point I want to talk about is the composition of the film. Countless mirror compositions make the film interesting and vivid. The moment Leo went to see Angle, the moment Leo’s husband came home and entered the door, Leo and her husband were in the bathroom and bedroom. When..., and the advanced composition aesthetics, the most impressive thing is the composition of taking pictures of his mother while dancing flamenco, and when Leo met Angle on the street and was surrounded by the parade, Angle danced in the square At the time, it can be said that countless pictures can be used as posters alone. This is the aesthetic ability of a great director.
Of course, there are countless memorable points in the film. Although it is not Almodóvar's peak work, it is also a very good film in my heart. In the film, you can see a director's skills and countless metaphors. Throwing away the burden and taking it back, the script, the use of color, the photography skills, and the insight into people, as well as the values that Almodovar threw out of the film as a gay director, will find time to revisit it.
