I watched Bresson's "Money" first, and then watched this one, and I felt that it was indeed a consistent style. Cold, stern, straight.
I don't know how many prison break movies I've made now, but they are still very different from this old movie. In that era when there was no surveillance and no technological means, it also required a wise mind and firm belief to escape from prison. The whole film has no foreshadowing, no extra emotional nonsense. Just try, fail, keep trying. Then the first step, the second step, and finally success.
It's unique, and every detail feels real and tense. Seeing the two disappear into the night and the movie ends, I feel a sense of relief and serenity. It is still the background of the war. Although this is just one person's escape, it is a success after gathering everyone's beliefs and beliefs.
