As one of the more brilliant episodes in the drama "Rick and Morty", this episode has a good idea. If our beautiful and profound memories are false, and the close family that we have always been familiar with is completely non-existent, it will be too much. It's unacceptable. I also thought of this episode when I read the novel "Total Recall" before. It has the same purpose. I found that I had skipped it a little when I read it at first, and I didn't think about it. I can think of it when I read it again this time. Many, I will tell you my understanding.
I have two guesses about the character of the poop hole.
Conjecture 1: The poop hole is actually a special type of those sent to other people’s memories. It is just like him and doesn’t need to be disguised. This also shows that this is the c-137 universe, and the appearance of the poop hole at the beginning is actually a The memory of the main creator "colonization" can be understood as an easter egg.
Conjecture 2: This episode is not the c-137 universe at all! Just as they could watch TV in different parallel universes before, this episode may be the "Rick and Morty" family of another universe, and the poo hole really exists in this universe, which also explains the beginning of the poo hole It appeared in the animation at the beginning, and the "6" that Rick wrote before was actually before the large-scale invasion of monsters, and the "cousin" at the beginning may just be a test item, after all, it is Rick who may not have implanted memory, so write it down The "6" may be the time of sobriety, then the poop hole naturally exists.
A few details about the film:
1. Why does this invading monster only create fond memories? If they want to escape and find more places to live, why not just kill the Ricks? The easiest time to do it is when they completely trust the memories these monsters have implanted into them.
But maybe it was just the barrier that Rick set up that prevented them from going out, and they escaped in order to use Rick.
But in the later plot, it can be seen that the monsters use Morty and they want to get rid of Rick, which is also contradictory. Perhaps it is not an exaggeration to destroy the Rick family and then find a way to get out casually?
There is one detail to note:
When the pajama gary talks to the real gary, when the real gary is worried that he is fake, pajama gary comforts him, this time can be a good time to sow discord, but why not?
My thinking is that they might be a good creature, corresponding to conjecture 1 above, and poop holes are also a friendly image in this episode, but this also contradicts Rick's statement that these creatures are dangerous at the beginning.
Another understanding may be that creatures like them rely on disguised memories to deceive others' trust, and if disguised for a long time, they will create a cover for self-consciousness, and there will be no resistance and autonomy. This is similar to the previous "The Tuner" (short film). The male protagonist has been blind for a long time. If the old lady finds out, it is definitely an easy thing to do, but his falsehood makes him timid, and he still wants to use that A little trick to deceive others' trust will eventually lead to fire. The same goes for these monsters here.
2. The reason why the poop hole was hurt by the mother and the mother was very sad is also very understandable.
Corresponding to conjecture 1, after all, I also have a very unforgettable memory of my mother. Just like my father lost his pajamas, he wanted to accompany him to die. My mother hurt the real creatures, and I realized that those beautiful things were just fake blows, mother. There will also be guilt and sadness.
Corresponding to conjecture 2, it must be unacceptable to hurt familiar people who really exist and live around them.
3. There are also Easter eggs at the end of the episode and the fact that the poop hole no longer trusts the Rick family. The irony that the main creator wants to bring is: good people and hypocrites.
The people who are nice to you in our lives are often the ones who are the easiest to hurt. In the end, my mother wanted to come to apologize and stopped seeing her in the poop hole. People say that people always make mistakes, but when they really do something wrong and hurt people who are sincere to you, this is a big blow to them. I want to restore everything that was lost before, to restore the friendliness you are accustomed to, but I find that the pain is imprinted in my mind like a nail, and although it can be pulled out, it will always leave a mark. Just like what the rubber man said, "people say they make mistakes", this is the first point these monsters learn from humans, but they use simple and beautiful memories to lead to fatalities. Isn't this a powerful irony?
And those bad memories allow Rick and the others to find a way to rescue, which also shows that painful memories create ourselves, and it is these that allow us to deeply remember someone or something, maybe hate or miss. Good things will numb ourselves, and bad things are letting us see through the essence of society, an exercise in surviving in this hateful world.
Speaking of good people and hypocrites, it can be understood that Poop Hole is a good person, while other monsters are hypocrites, which shows that false people will eventually be destroyed by falsehood.
Poo Hole didn't just appear in this episode, either.
Easter eggs appeared in both the second season and the third season finale, and the character's interspersed presence in so many episodes also illustrates the importance of poop holes.
It is worth mentioning that in the last episode of the third season, a group photo of the Rick family appeared on the wall behind the family in the poop hole. When the poop hole did not want to forgive the protagonist's family on the surface, they were placed everywhere. where does it still brood over beth's shooting? Or are they outraged that they don't trust themselves?
Maybe it's not false that the vows made before the poop hole to be with them forever are not false, but after the tempering of time, they will meet again, and this will be in the fourth season.
