It is understandable why Godard has such high praise for Abbas

I watched it four times recently, a rare 10-point movie. Should be the pinnacle of Abbas.

With strict restraint, multiple meanings - the spiritual crisis of the middle class, the collision between the middle class and the "bottom" people, the different faces of the "bottom" people (self-respect, straightforward, kind, inferior, uneducated, but there are many wise people among them ), the meaning of life and death - naturally and tightly combined in an extremely simple story, every detail has considerable plausibility and meaning (the recruits represent Buddy's relatives - "You look like my son" , Buddy's kindness and dedication to the soldiers reflect his desire to understand his relatives, and the conflict between the two is the appearance of the conflict between Buddy and his relatives). Speaking of Buddy's character, it can be seen from his attitude towards everyone that the reason for his suicide is, on the one hand, the alienation from the people around him caused by his own character (being indifferent, arrogant, and involuntarily mean when he speaks), and on the other hand It lies in despair over the harsh reality (war).

Strong structure. It took 20 minutes to place the strongest dramatic conflict in the first quarter of the film, and explained the intention and reason for suicide; the biggest turning point was placed in the third quarter, reflecting the psychological changes of the protagonist.

The actors are well arranged. Buddy was played by professional actors, all passengers were played by non-professional actors, and each actor performed to perfection. The difference in Buddy's expression to the first and last passenger is rather subtle.

Abbas' films are both nagging and nagging. He relies heavily on dialogue to build the narrative, but none of the dialogue is nonsense, realistic and informative.

The story is simple, but it feels good. It tells about a man named Buddy who drove to find someone... "Bury himself"... Well, this narrative may cause misunderstandings by others (I don't care), I found two people, one was a boy in the army, he was unwilling, ran away; another was a seminary student, and he naturally didn't want to. Finally found an old man named Bagley...he said yes. As for the finale, it's really bright...--.

Three and a half. @小西天. 1. When he was shaken by his thoughts of death, he finally stopped the car, not only the endless long road, but also the city in the sunset, the children running on the playground, and the sunset like a cherry. 2. Undoubtedly, through Camus' "only philosophical proposition" - suicide, to interpret a Camusian concept of life. The endless winding road is also a Sisyphus symbol. The two Palme d'Or in 3.97, this film and Imamura's eel, are all symbols with obvious meanings. For the spring to vent the injustice. Think of this year's titanium again. The judges need a straightforward symbol to lead the way. boring. 4. Abbas, you can't play meta-movies in every one of them. will get tired. 5. The taste of mulberry is so good, if the taste of cherries is turned into the taste of cherries, then the male protagonist is dead. (bush
