Bergman's films are notoriously obscure, but this bad girl Monica is easy to understand, with no esoteric discussions of humanity and religion. But that's what makes Bergman's unique charm. He needs to talk about those things, otherwise who else will talk, and who else can talk so well.
So I don't really like this early film, it's not that it's bad, and it doesn't have that Bergman style that I like.
The heroine later made "The Shout and the Drizzle," which is one of my favorite Bergman films. Swedish women have extremely beautiful faces, but their bones are thick and their limbs are not good-looking. As a hand-controlled, foot-controlled audience, I feel very sorry.
