04/24/2019 Due to space limitations, many details in the book were not explained in detail in the play, so I opened a post here to record it~"~
It begins with absence and desire. It begins with blood and fear. It begins with a discovery of witches.
1. Bodleian Library; the place where the hostess reads books every day is called Duke Humfrey's Reading Room
2. The whistleblower in the play, Gillian Chamberlian, is an American who graduated from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. Gillian's mother had a relationship with Em, the female partner of Aunt Diana. The leaker in the book is not her, but two gossiping witches.
3. Every year witches gather to celebrate the autumnal equinox, a festival called Mabon
4. The organizer and collector of Ashmole 782 is Elias Ashmole, a seventeenth-century book collector and alchemist whose books and papers had come to the Bodleian from the Ashmolean Museum in the nineteenth century.
5. The parents of the heroine met when they were studying at Harvard. Both parents are anthropologists.
6: The four creatures mentioned in the play: people, wizards, vampires, and the other one is elves. The spelling of elves in the subtitles is wrong, it's demons not demons, so the translation in the play says they are demons. The explanation given in the dictionary is: deamon, a good or benevolent nature spirit in classic Greek mythology.
