not boring at all

It's a simple story, just like the title says, but it's very touching, reading "the spirit of humanity" from ordinary people. An old man who lost his body, insisted on visiting his brother whom he hadn't seen for many years. Too old to be able to drive, only to drive a lawnmower at a speed of several kilometers per hour on this interstate journey. It should also be considered a "road movie", just a little slower - it's about the speed of the car, not the rhythm of the movie. The structure of the movie is very watchable and not boring at all.

★★★★ The movie with the most classic lines I've seen is this one. The old man's mouth is philosophical. He's a philosopher. The picture is very beautiful, the story is very delicate, there is no great sadness or joy, and it is very moving. Maybe I will take this movie out and watch it when I am old, maybe it will be regarded as a masterpiece, hehe.

I broke my leg and the doctor said tell me you are dying of old age. I heard the news of my brother's illness that day. Ten years ago, we exchanged vicious words and never saw each other again. I decided to drive my lawn mower, go over the mountains to see him, and tell him that we are still brothers... At the last moment, I burst into tears, it is hard to imagine a David Lynch movie.

The Straight Story quotes

  • Alvin Straight: There's no one knows your life better than a brother that's near your age. He knows who you are and what you are better than anyone on earth. My brother and I said some unforgivable things the last time we met, but, I'm trying to put that behind me... and this trip is a hard swallow of my pride. I just hope I'm not too late... a brother's a brother.

  • Alvin Straight: Anger, vanity, you mix that together with liquor, you've got two brothers that haven't spoken in ten years. Ah, whatever it was that made me and Lyle so mad... don't matter anymore. I want to make peace, I want to sit with him, look up at the stars... like we used to do, so long ago.
