This is the most impressive piece of Pixar animation I've seen recently. Before the opening of Brave, it was amazing. Pixar deserves to be called a childlike dream machine.
At the beginning, the picture fades in, seeing the sea and the starry sky, a boat with the name la luna (moon god) rowing in, and the protagonists come into view in turn, a robust middle-aged man is rowing, a child is watching, and an old man is sitting.
The picture changes to a panoramic view, then to a distant view, and then to a horizontal view. We can see the appearance of the whole ship and the activities of the people on board. The old man threw the anchor into the water, then pushed the camera and handed the child a package. After pinching his ears, the child took the package and looked at the middle-aged man, as if asking if he could open it. After getting permission, he opened it and saw a hat. The child happily put on the hat, and then the old man and the middle-aged man began to argue about how to wear the hat. After a few back and forth, the old man gave up and turned off the lights at random. The old man and the middle-aged man sat opposite each other with their eyes closed. The child looked at the two adults, the middle-aged man rubbed his nose, and the old man licked his ears.
The music started, and a full moon slowly rose over the sea. The middle-aged man stood up and handed the anchor to the child. After seeing the height of the ladder in the panoramic view several times, the child was also very nervous. After stepping on the top layer, the child began to float upwards, to the moon. Turning the screen and pulling the camera, it turns out that the stars are glowing on the moon, and the children are surprised. The old man and the middle-aged people are on the moon in turn, and a star falls on the moon. The children are full of curiosity about this place.
It turns out that their job is to clean the stars on the moon. The middle-aged man pushes out the cart and takes out his tools. The old man also takes out his broom. When the child goes to get the tools, the old and the middle-aged man hand over their tools. Give it to him, the child holds the tools of the two and does not know how to choose. While the old and the middle-aged were arguing, the children saw a different kind of fun from their own perspective, and their tools all resembled their beards.
Suddenly a huge star fell from the sky, and the old and middle-aged people tried their best to lift it up. A hammer came out of the toolbox. When the old man and the middle-aged man were arguing, he climbed up on the big star and knocked on it. The big stars all turned into small stars. In a slow motion, the child fell with the stars. , bright and beautiful, the middle-aged and the old have widened their eyes and feel very surprised. The child smiled, and the hat was turned upside down. The old man and the middle-aged man looked at each other and laughed, and the screen turned to the rake. It turned out that the child himself chose the same tool that suits him. Three generations of grandparents completed the work together.
Back on the boat, the old man and the middle-aged man praised the child very much. The three looked up at the sky, and the moon turned into the last quarter moon. Subtitles out la luna.
I was very impressed with the picture of the last quarter moon. Pixar's animation has always been meticulous. The dark part of the moon covers the stars behind it, which is very detailed.
A very warm little story, very beautiful and very dreamy. The things they talk about are also very realistic. Why don't the elderly and middle-aged people grow up from children? When I was a child, I was wrapped in the experience of adults, but in fact, real growth requires breaking away from this kind of wrapping. Having your own ideas and your own choices is the real growth.
It is worth mentioning that the little illustration with the subtitles at the end of the film reminds me of the little prince of planet b612.
