The story tells the true and pure love of a man and a woman, Cheol-soo [Jung Woo-sung] is a talented carpenter, and Soo-jin [Son Ye-jin] is a designer. Accidentally at a convenience store with an encounter similar to a "popcorn at the station" joke, planting the seeds for love. However, Son Ye-jin suffers from Alzheimer's disease, which makes the two happy lovers start a fierce struggle in their hearts.
Without memory, what is left of love?
In the first half, things are trivial, but the narrative is smooth and romantic.
The second half is tear-jerking, the plot is similar to "50 First Loves", the
difference is that "50 Times" is humorous with sadness, and the persistence of love makes you move, "Eraser" is completely for the purpose of moving people, whether it is for the first half. Partly romantic lament, sympathy for the fate of the protagonist in the second half. However, watching the first half is happy, the romance of the two protagonists makes people excited and have the urge to shout.
There are two particularly philosophical words in the film that are the biggest highlight.
First, Soo-jin's father told Cheol-soo how to be a good carpenter, "A bad carpenter complains every day about how inappropriate the wood given to him is. A good carpenter values the texture of the wood, and what I value is your texture."
Second, Soo-jin gave Zhezhu talks about forgiveness, "Build a big house in your heart. If you don't forgive, hatred fills every room of the house. Even if it's built, you can only live outside."
But the movie is not enjoyable, it is touching but meaningless, the topic is never discussed in depth, and many plots are handled too hastily and carelessly.
1. At the beginning, Sun's dress surprised me. Like the lady at the bar, she played the role of a third party who broke up other people's families. All colleagues pointed at her, but this is omitted in the film. However, it does not step into the perspective and anatomy of social problems at all.
2. The words of the beggar at the beginning and end have no force at all, and they are not smooth enough to connect the plot, which is simply a failure.
3. The description of Cheol-soo's architect is also too hasty. The part where he understands the art of architecture and Soo-jin tells him that forgiveness is a climax, but then becomes discouraged immediately. It was like sending a piece of delicious food into the mouth, and when it reached the throat, when the stomach was about to accept it, an ugly girl came across and spit it out all at once, all the pleasure was gone.
4. The conflict between Cheol-soo and his mother is also resolved inexplicably.
I guess the film should be too long, the editing cuts out a lot of the plot, making the connection less smooth, or the script could be better.
I had this tragic fear from the start, and it got stronger as the story progressed, and it ended up as expected.
Son Ye Jin seems to be out of the role of tragedy.
