(1) There are some things that cannot be said
What Alex said and did touch my heart. He went free to climb El Capitan, as if to accomplish something in his mind. This matter has been in his heart for eight years, and within eight years, the fire in his heart has not been annihilated with time and thinking.
Alex is following his inner calling to fulfill his mission, which belongs only to himself. He doesn't share his sense of mission with anyone, and in most cases, he can't, considering the uncertainty of free climbing.
The calling of life, like sadness and joy, makes it difficult to empathize with others.
(2) Some lives have a calling
Although people always need to have a good meal in life, life is not just a good meal. In addition to the things in the eyes of others, there are other things in some life, some temptations from the heart. Some people choose to do something and choose to satisfy themselves. It could be to prove to myself that I can, or it could be to prove my boundaries...and so on.
Conquering the mountains and the sea is also the desire to conquer oneself and conquer one's heart. Or rather, to satisfy yourself. So is fame and fortune. Exploring oneself and conquering oneself contains great joy in itself. To a certain extent, this is also the mission of many people in their lives. to explore yourself.
Maybe, everyone comes to this world with a mission. Whether you are active or passive, your whole life is fulfilling your historical mission. Some people decide what they are good at at a certain age, and then complete their mission and serve the society in their posts.
Some people like to toss and do something curious, and some people do things they haven't done before. It would be even cooler if no one else in human history had done it. A kind of coolness that exists only within oneself. That's what they've identified as their own mission.
Others feel that they have a mission to all mankind. With great power comes great responsibility. So there are so many non-profit organizations trying their best to solve problems such as disease, hunger, environment, human rights and so on. These people put humanity on their shoulders.
(3) Some people choose to be alone
Throughout the film, the relationship between Alex and Sanni always has a sense of unreality, which will make people worry about Sanni. Alex is a little relation disabled, this is his armor, helping him focus 100% on himself. But it would feel unfair to Sanni.
Some people are lonely, he chooses to be alone. Loneliness gave him inner peace and made him feel free and comfortable.
Just like walking by candles at night, everyone is looking for people with the same lights as their own in the night with lanterns. Some people can find it, some people can't.
But there is no need to worry about it, inner peace is better than everything else.
