The Basis of Sex

Just finished watching this movie alone in Sydney. At first, I was afraid that I couldn't understand the lines. After all, this is a biographical film, but fortunately, even if I didn't understand some words, the meanings of the lines were roughly understood. The two clips that impressed me are, 1. "The first thing you want to change the country is to change your mind" This is what the old lady said to the heroine when the heroine went to the old lady for the first time, meaning It was to make her give up on continuing to fight for equal rights between men and women. 2. From the very beginning, the daughter of the heroine always thought that her mother was very strong and that she had been deliberately showing her intelligence to everyone. Later, the mother of the railway station team became the right-hand man of her mother. There is also a small clip of mother and daughter. After looking for the old lady, while holding an umbrella and playing in the rain, a worker teased (insulted) the mother and daughter, and the daughter did not hesitate to stand up and respond to the worker. Ten years ago (roughly this means). Another thing is that I am very envious of the love between the male and female protagonists. The two can help each other move towards a goal and at the same time grow and improve each other. In the final stage of the movie, when the heroine went to court to fight for equality between men and women, the judge kept making things difficult for the heroine, which made people anxious. Finally, the heroine Kingsburg herself is a legend. She studied at Harvard and Columbia Law School, and is the second female judge in history to enter the Supreme Court. I am not a feminist, but I admire the heroine's firm personality and Skillful work style. The road ahead is new, and life still has to move forward.

  • Ruth Bader Ginsburg: [testifying before the Tenth District Court] We're not asking you to change the country. That's already happened without any court's permission. We're asking you to protect the right of the country to change.

  • Jane Ginsburg: Yeah, go make yourself pretty for Daddy's party.
