Taking revenge for one's relatives is a very old proposition. In the past countless years, this proposition has been narrated over and over again from novels, dramas, TV dramas, and movies. Among them, "revenge for father" is a chewed, even carved. something in the subconscious. That's why when we saw the first half of the movie, when Ree, played by Jennifer Lawrence, was looking for the truth of killing his father, even though countless details and foreshadowings foreshadowed the ending, we still, like the murderer, kept escaping into the past. In his concept; like his uncle Teardrop, he chose to keep persuading Ree to give up his pursuit of the murderer.

However, what was unexpected and reasonable was that she didn't need a murderer, and she didn't want revenge. When everyone was watching out for her and threatening her, no one thought about whether she wanted to "revenge her father".

In fact, she didn't. What she valued most was her younger brother, her own home, not the addict.

Adults never ask children what they think

Over the years, no matter how big the gap is between Chinese and foreign cultures, we still grow up in traditional morality. It is a bit ridiculous that maybe the underworld values morality more, because people, since the law can't limit it, naturally they need another kind of rules. , you can't keep fighting like a machine, and you don't even have a chance to negotiate.

So what does a triad boss think when he hears that the man he eliminated has an underage daughter who is constantly searching for her father in a small town? He will inevitably be caught in a dilemma: you say cutting grass and rooting, a little girl, a little boy, after all, he is a successful person with a factory career and a normal family, and he is not a Sicilian mafia, so cruel? Besides, in fact, the underworld in the small town knows who did what, if the little girl really doesn't let go, the girl's uncle Teardrop is a scary lunatic, what will he do?

So most of the entire film reflects their tangle: why bother? A little girl can't fight, and the days ahead are still long. They kept persuading Ree to give up, but never thought about whether Ree really wanted revenge. Although Ree has said a few times about her goals, she needs to live, her family's house is about to be repossessed, and she needs to find her father, dead or alive.

Kindness of father, filial piety

Who is Ree's father, Jessup? For a long time in the movie, in a lot of dialogue, it was a rather manly father. So, of course, he's a good father~ at least everyone except Ree thinks so. Having given birth to Ree and her younger brother, and taught her the ability to survive, no matter how you look at it, this is a good man with a sense of responsibility and a good father.

Ree obviously didn't think so. Although the father and daughter in her memory were warm and affectionate, in fact, the father had been absent for a long time. When she has the ability to be self-reliant, their relationship has long since been indifferent.

What's more, even the house has been mortgaged. Common sense, as long as it is not the Virgin Mary, or stupid white sweet, anger is inevitable. Not to mention the daughter at the bottom, the child of the poor has long been in charge, and a father who has not appeared for a long time, it is said that he has disappeared, and then someone came and said that he was going to take away the only house that he could live in. There was anger in Ree's sorrowful eyes. The stubbornness of the stock is mixed with resentment.

What's more, these adults don't want to listen to her explanation at all, even if her reason for looking for her father is so realistic, no one wants to believe it!

The truth of life and the falsehood of stories

People always believe what they want to believe, even if it doesn't make sense.

The boss of the underworld, apart from believing that the brothers and children of the enemy will come to take revenge, what else can he believe in? Could he have thought that if the enemy's daughter found the body, he would be able to keep his house, maintain his own life, and be protected by the law? After all, the law never protected him.

The depraved bastard, his brother was killed, and his niece came to ask. He obviously didn't believe what this stubborn girl said. What he saw and encountered clearly told him that this little girl was courting death. He will do some things, but let her stay out of it, after all, she is not an adult, what's the use?

So the police's words are true, Ree's words are true, very realistic, people at the bottom are already very difficult to seek life, and inevitably they will use some stories to numb themselves - the revenge stories of friends, the tradition of revenge for relatives - these are the elements of life.

Storytellers always say that stories come from life and are higher than life. They are art.

But stories are not life after all. A story is a beautified life, and life is a rational story.

So when Ree came home with his father's hands in his arms, I suddenly realized that this is not an anti-routine story, this is not even a routine story, this is a piece of a dull life.

Really avenge their relatives, how many are there in reality? Reckless impulsive behavior, how many times in a person's life?

So in the story, others will accuse the humble life, and in the life, no one will accuse the story of the humble.
