Good works hit the heart

The title of the movie I saw was translated as "Brad's Midlife Crisis" at first, and I was instantly attracted by the title of the movie. The author was in 1997, at the time of youth, the age of struggle, and the sense of crisis was very strong.

In the university, there are many very powerful classmates, who have an annual salary of millions, self-employment, volunteer bosses... Compared with them, I have failed more than Brad. And there are those who spend their days waiting for graduation, those who plan to take the postgraduate entrance exam for a few more years, those who are waiting to go home to inherit property, and even those who fail to go to college after high school and earn a monthly salary of 2,000 yuan... Compared with these people, I am very lucky . There is a saying that can describe the author's writing - "half a bucket of shit".

The film talked a lot, but in the end, the author did not get the answer I wanted. How to balance the situation and the hard work?

Brad's Status quotes

  • Brad Sloan: [narrating] Her friend, Maya was equally captivating, equally compelling. I suddenly felt a deep grief... for all the women I would never love and all the lives I would never live. I imaging running away with them both and starting again and what that might look like.

  • Troy Sloan: When we were walking around today and you embarrassing me, I kept thinking, like, you know, if I go to this school, everybody here's gonna remember this and I'm never gonna live this down. But... you know, they're not gonna remember. Because, everybody's just thinking about themselves. You know? Nobody cares. Like, the only person that's thinking about you, is me, so... the only person's opinion that you should really care about is mine.

Brad Sloan: Yeah. What's your opinion?

Troy Sloan: Well, I love you.

    Brad Sloan: Thank you.
