For Jin Min's "Millennium Actress", although it is not as high as the first real animation, Jin Min's ingenious use of the fantastic and changeable characteristics of animation can be said to have made a real animation.
If you push aside the content to see the macro structure of the whole story, I personally feel that this film is similar to "Forrest Gump". They are all based on a virtual character, interspersed with complex and changeable time and space. It's just that Forrest Gump travels through major moments in American history, while "Millennium Actress" is a movie, and the movie itself has a virtual feature (a movie is a lie 25 times per second - Michael Ha Naik) This feature can be exploited by animation. Thus, a dreamlike masterpiece was born.
Unlike Spielberg's typical Hollywood spirit, Jin Min's works are more alternative and never lack suspense. This "Millennium Actress" also buried a clue of chasing a lover, and the plot design of a witch in the middle is to avoid the repeated repetition of the theme of chasing and causing the audience to experience aesthetic fatigue. On careful analysis, the witch plot is just a variation and emphasis on pursuing this theme.
All in all, "Millennium Actress" is a rare fantasy romance.
