true love world

The film won the Most Popular Film Award and the Best Child Actor Performance Award at the 1995 Children's Film Festival.

The film is also translated as "The World of True Love". In the movie, the kid who contracted AIDS from a blood transfusion is called Dexter, the older boy who climbed over the fence to Dexter's side was called Eric, and the thin, dark-skinned woman was Dexter's Mother. This movie is so full of trivial details that I don't know how to comment on it, so I'll just post my sentiments.
If you want to know some details of the film, you can see my post on the fairy tale group.

One, tolerance.
When your child is doomed to die early, what will you do to him?
Would you allow him to befriend a kid like Eric? Eric, though brave and kind, is still a young child after all. He gave him banned candies and chocolates, even if he spent all his pocket money, he made medicine for him to drink from the leaves on the roadside, he took him away from home, and even, because of his appearance, he originally paid He could live for three years, and hurried to death in a short period of summer vacation. If you were Dexter's mother, would you still indulge him? Will you still hold him in your arms? Say thank you to him? Even trying to protect him?

Second, open-minded.
What is the meaning of life? How will you spend the rest of your life knowing that you have to face death? Is it to work hard and steadily to prolong your life? Or do you risk everything, do what you want to do, live the life you want, and seek a glimmer of hope?

3. Growth.
Growth is not necessarily a pleasant thing, full of desire to explore and destroy. Like every child, Eric has many qualities: kindness from the bottom of his heart, bravery, dreams, endless energy, creativity. However, from the moment he appeared, Eric was not a child who followed the rules. Using a knife to cut a stool, unable to go out because of fear of fighting, finally resolved a crisis but couldn't help but provoke each other, even though he had money, he still ate chocolate in the supermarket, peeked at pornographic publications on the boat, stole money, had no concern for the environment Appropriately assessing abilities, centering on ego's aspirations... Like every child, Eric has innumerable flaws. Although Eric was moved by Dexter's confession of death in the camp, and although he was able to stand in front of Dexter to protect him, his understanding and care for Dexter was still limited, and most of the time He is busy for his own happiness. In the end, Dexter dies, and we find that Eric's grief is limited. We are always hazy when we are young. Such Eric is very good. He is more like a living teenager, rather than a model of high school.

4. Death.
Death is never a taboo word here. In the conversations of teenagers and in games, death is everywhere. Whether at home or on the hospital bed, they are working hard to expand the joy of being alive, games, games, and finally the simulation and fun of death to leave quietly. Facing death and darkness, how brave the children are, Take it easy.
Many parents worry that the violent tendencies in fairy tales will adversely affect their children. In this film, we see that such worries are unnecessary. Cruelty to the doll is just a catharsis, for Eric it's a catharsis of the excess libido in him; for Dexter, it's a simulation, a habit, and a mockery of real death.

5. Details, Moderation and Echoes

Before Dexter is dragged out of the car by his mother, Dexter's mother is saying to Eric, "Actually I know..." Know what the movie doesn't tell us. But looking back at the movie, we can guess what Dexter's mother is going to say from a quick glance at the medication records spread out on the coffee table. Many words can be omitted.

6. Communication.
The white fence separates two different worlds. The fences in life are easy to climb, but what about the fences in your heart? The doctors in the hospital never despised Dexter, every doctor graciously accepted their mischief, how hard Dr. Thomson took care of Dexter's heart! Even Eric's mother is finally moved by Dexter's mother's grief, and neighbors show up at Dexter's funeral in twos and threes. Although the latter's concession is based on the fact that the life-threatening AIDS has been eliminated, after all, there is still Dr. Thomson and Eric in this world.
There is indeed a bridge between people to each other, but many times we stop at the fence and give up our efforts to reach each other. But over the past, there may be long-awaited beauty!

The Cure quotes

  • Dexter: This is stupid.

Erik: Yeah? Well, about twenty years ago there was this guy. He noticed some mold growing on his bread and he started feeding it to people. Everybody said he was stupid. You know what it turned out to be? Aspirin!

  • Erik: Hey! What would you do if I come over there and whopped your ass?

Dexter: How long would that take?

    Erik: 'Bout 10 seconds.

Dexter: I'd wait till you're finished and then I'd continue working on my mud fort.

Erik: You mean you'd just let me beat you up?

Dexter: I'd try to stop you but I probably wouldn't be able to, I'm not very big.

Erik: Well in that case it'd only take 5 seconds.

Dexter: So is that what you're gonna do?

    Erik: Maybe later.

    Dexter: Hello? You still there?
