Why evil is evil

After reading Liang Wendao's "On God", I once had a hypothesis. He said that the limitations of human beings have three aspects: one is inherent limitation, that is, we cannot be as perfect as God; the other is physical limitation, because no matter what, our human body is made of matter, which constitutes our body. Matter itself has its limitations; the third is the limitation of morality, that is, we cannot be completely kind. The limitations of morality are determined by physical limitations. For example, the human body will age and people will die, so people will cherish their lives, and cherishing their lives will lead to selfishness.
Then I observed a very common phenomenon, or a phenomenon that everyone knows, that women of the same age are often more "mature" than men. Everyone is talking about the word "mature", but what does it actually mean? Later, I realized that "mature" means that a person is more and more able to recognize their limitations and act according to their judgments. Combining the above theory that "materials" determine "morality", my hypothesis is that "females of the same age are more mature than males". Because this innate physical phenomenon is different from that of men, women will begin to realize their limitations, so they will be more psychologically mature than men of the same age.
Of course, this is all my wild thoughts, and I have no way to prove it. But in this film, the story really unfolds from this. The story begins with blood, reaches a climax with blood, and ends with blood.
The protagonist Carrie lives in an extremely closed family, and her mother is an extreme religious fanatic. The education she received from an early age was that everything was her fault, and any harm she suffered was a punishment from God, punishing her for being unsteady in her beliefs and being induced by evil. She was fisted by her mother at every turn, and was confined at every turn. Growing up in such an environment, we can imagine how cowardly and inferior her character is. Therefore, she is often bullied by classmates in school. Finally one day, she had menstruation, but she didn't know what it was, and no one had told her. And she didn't have menstruation until high school, she was considered a freak by her classmates, and everyone laughed at her.
As if to blame her mother for all this. But why did her mother become like this. From her mother's self-report, we learned that Carrie's father and mother were both devout Christians, so devout that there was no sex in the married life. But the father had a relationship with his mother during a urge to drink and gave birth to Carrie. Later, for various reasons, his father left their mother and daughter and eloped with other women. In this situation, what would this woman think? She would think that her husband had betrayed herself because of the temptation of lust. In this process, she mentioned a very important point, that is, she enjoyed the urge to drink. Therefore, she regarded this enjoyment as a sin, and her husband's elopement as a punishment for this sin. And the direct consequence of this impulse—Carrie—was really sinful. Her birth itself is a sin, and once she wants to purify her, not to be contaminated by sin.
So when she learned that Carrie had menarche, she was very angry. She thought it must be because of Carrie's lack of faith and the temptation of the devil. When she couldn't stop Carrie from going on a date with a boy, she knew she was over, and her whole life was wasted, and Carrie let the devil take it away. So she was going to kill her.
Let’s think about her whole series of logic: Husband and other women ran away-"He should not be impulsive after drinking, he is guilty-"I shouldn't enjoy it, I am guilty -" Carrie shouldn't be born, she is guilty —— "I want to purify her——" She was tempted by the devil, she deserved to die. This is a logic of inferring actions based on the results of events. When the results are not satisfactory, it is considered that the actions that caused the results were wrong. This is a very dangerous idea. Because if you follow this logic and keep thinking up and thinking up, you will definitely think of an ultimate, that is: I actually shouldn’t exist, or I shouldn’t exist in this way, if I can change another way Just exist. Or think, this world shouldn't exist in this way, it would be nice if the world was another way. And this is precisely the source of all destruction.
The reason for this film's horror is precisely because this idea runs through it all the time. The first is Carrie. She is very closed and low self-esteem, but with the power of books, she began to understand herself, understand the world, and break the isolation of the environment. Thanks to the help of well-wishers, she began to change from a defensive posture to an active state, boldly marching towards the world. However, a pot of pig blood dripped on her head, breaking all these efforts and reminding her of what her mother said to her: They`re gonna laugh at you! When she killed everyone and returned home, she threw herself on Mom cried and said: Mom, they really laughed at me. When the house collapsed, she went back to the confinement room to hide. She always wanted to escape from here, but in the end, she went back here to hide.
As for her mother, when she was nailed to death, she clearly groaned like an orgasm. Because she reached a spiritual climax, she finally got her wish and received the punishment she deserved. She was crucified to death like Jesus. I think I can cleanse my sins.
The poorest one was actually Sue, the girl who really wanted to help Carrie. It was she who contributed her boyfriend to invite Carrie to the dance party. But in the end, although she survived, she was constantly disturbed by nightmares. The sentence written on Carrie's tombstone: Carrie White Burns in Hell. Actually it's not Carrie "burns in hell", Carrie is dead, this world has nothing to do with her, it is the living people who are concerned. It was Sue "burns in hell", because she couldn't accept this fact, she was out of good intentions, but how could it turn out to be like this. What will she think and how will she live in the future? ?
And all this is because of that bucket of pig blood, that evil and resentment. The reason why evil is evil is that it can always hide in the least noticeable place, lurking under mediocrity. When you are the most lax and proud, it will give you a big drink, make you lose yourself, doubt all the good, wipe Go to all the achievements of progress towards the world, make you back to where you were, and close yourself back.

The lens processing is quite good, and the montage technique is used incisively and vividly. But the roughness of the old picture is a flaw. It is said that the second half hour was very exciting, so I boiled and boiled, unfortunately fell asleep in the middle, woke up and looked at the so-called "wonderful", sad. The terrifying pictures and special effects are really not popular enough now.

Watched it on HBO in the middle of the night. Hatred and revenge, simple, rude and effective venting. Then came an even more empty disappointment.

Carrie quotes

  • Miss Collins: [to the girls] Now, my idea for this little trick you pulled was three days' suspension and refusal of your prom tickets.

    [the girls gasp]

    Norma: [in disbelief] What? God!

Miss Collins: That'd get you where you live, wouldn't it? And you deserve it. I don't think any of you have any idea of just how nasty what you did really was. But the office has decided you're to have one week's detention.

    [the girls sigh with relief]

Miss Collins: Still, there's one little catch. It's to be my detention.

[the girls are once again perturbed]

Miss Collins: That's fifty minutes every day starting today in the athletic field. Get the picture?

    Chris Hargenson: I'm not coming.

Miss Collins: That's up to you, Chris. That's up to all of you. Punishment for skipping detention is three days' suspension and refusal of your prom tickets. Any other thoughts? Good. Now change up.

    [the girls proceed begrudgingly]

Chris Hargenson: Where are you going?

    Norma: Come on.

    Chris Hargenson: I'm not coming.

Norma: You're really not gonna come? You're gonna miss out on the prom?

    Chris Hargenson: I'm not coming.

Norma: Well, I'm not gonna miss the prom.

    Chris Hargenson: Fuck.

  • Margaret White: I'm here on the Lord's work, Mrs. Snell; spreadin' the gospel of God's salvation through Christ's blood!

    Mrs. Snell: Yes, of course...

Margaret White: These are godless times, Mrs. Snell.

Mrs. Snell: I'll drink to that. Mrs. White, I'd like to contribute five... ten dollars.

Margaret White: [offended] I see. I pray you find, Jesus.
