Margaret under feminism

In 1920, the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution officially gave women the right to vote. It is mentioned in the play that Nucky also used Margaret for this. Margaret is a character that is not so easy to understand in the play.
In World War I, men were all on the battlefield, and many jobs in the rear were undertaken by women. The responsibility of raising children and maintaining the family rested on women. Feminism flourished in this context, and as a result, it achieved results in the United States. Margaret is a person who is deeply influenced by feminism, and at the same time traditional ethics influence her. Margaret is an active feminist from the Women's League, Alcohol Rehabilitation Association and other organizations that Margaret joined. At the same time she is the mother of two children. Even when her husband abused her, she still took care of the family meticulously.
Under the influence of feminism, Margaret needs to be respected like men, believing that women have the same abilities as men. So he asked for Nucky's help and chatted and laughed happily with the councillors. Margaret's revenge against Nucky for the first time did not lie in the correctness of things, but in Nucky's neglect or disrespect for her. Nucky seemed to realize this and put Margaret on. After living together, Margaret helped Nucky do a lot of things, but Nucky kept those things secret from Margaret. In the election of the mayor, Margaret felt that she was greatly used and disrespected, and Annabelle was just a fuse. In Margaret's eyes, for the person she likes, she can be ignored, but she must be respected.
What Margaret longed for didn't want to be a man's vassal and to be respected by men. So Margaret will help Nucky, because Nucky had enough respect for Margaret before (this respect is true or not).
