The sunlight wafted down through the glass on the top of the station, and the stars fell on the shoulders of the pedestrians in a hurry. No one cared about these things, these things that are eternal and unchanging day after day. What everyone cares about is whether you can catch the shuttle bus in time, otherwise it is not a good thing to be late; what you care about is whether today’s stocks are up or down, otherwise the feeling of lock-in is not a good thing; what cares about is whether the salary increase promised by the boss yesterday It can become a reality, otherwise it is not a good thing to live a life stretched out. Okay, throw away these tiring pieces, or you will fall asleep.
The film starts from the station, and the protagonist Porter stands tall in the crowd. Everything around him is so strange and incompatible with him. With a smile on his face, he looked around and enjoyed it, as if all this was what he longed to see, and a sense of satisfaction emerged spontaneously. The development of the story is always so ridiculous but suspicious. I won't go into details about the plot, but a question that has been around since then has been unfolded: "Is Potter a mentally ill or an alien?". Even at the end of the film, the director did not clearly tell you the answer, or the answer has been told from the beginning, just like the other title mentioned above: miracles start from the heart, and the answer also starts from the heart. Different people may get different answers when watching the same film. This is the effect the screenwriter and author want. It is specious and makes people think.
Let’s talk about the actors. Kevin Spacey’s acting skills have undoubtedly made this film another height. He gave Porter a unique charm and character. It feels like this person comes from a paradise, so different. Many times an actor wants to convey information through his eyes. However, because of the need for the plot, he wears sunglasses most of the time. No one can see what the look behind the two thick lenses is. Obviously these do not hinder his communication and performance. I haven't read the original novel. I don't know if the details of the action are described in the original novel or Kevin himself experienced it. No matter what, I think he has completed the task assigned by the director. It is perfect and natural. As if he was him and we became him.
Finally, the film returned to the station, with people coming and going. The reconciliation of Mark and his son brought the film to a successful conclusion. It starts and ends here. However, Potter came and went by the light, waved his sleeves, and although he did not take away a cloud, he left hope and happiness.
PS: There are many details in the film that need to be experienced by everyone, and I feel very relieved.
