Is it really just a disaster movie?

I deeply suspect that this movie was originally set as a suspense film, but because there is no scientific explanation, it turned into a catastrophic horror film. The subtle mother-child relationship between the male protagonist and his mother, the appearance of the female protagonist and the male protagonist’s mother is surprisingly similar, the female protagonist’s single-parent family background, the male protagonist abducted two women from San Francisco to this remote area, the female partner’s words have something to say, The bizarre and unsolved murders of this small town, coupled with the private belief that the root cause of the canary in the flock of birds disaster, lacks a clue to connect. In short, I think it is not a qualified suspense film.

When Hitchcock and Truffaut talked, they distinguished between suspense and surprise, which was also reflected in the flock of birds. At 1:10, the heroine went to the school to pick up Cathy. The audience began to feel nervous when they saw the first crow landed there, and the heroine was smoking with her back, but the audience could see it, and the audience participated from the beginning. The whole process takes longer, and the audience is provided with 15 minutes of suspense instead of 15 seconds of surprise.

The Birds quotes

  • Sebastian Sholes, fisherman in diner: Hell, maybe we're all getting a little carried away with this. Admittedly a few birds did act strange, but that's no reason to...

Melanie Daniels: I keep telling you, this isn't 'a few birds'! These are gulls, crows, swifts...!

Mrs. Bundy, elderly ornithologist: I have never known birds of different species to flock together. The very concept is unimaginable. Why, if that happened, we wouldn't stand a chance! How could we possibly hope to fight them?

  • Annie Hayworth: Don't they ever stop migrating?
