From the second half of 2017 to the beginning of 2018, all 10 episodes of the first season of "Electronic Dream" ended.
The first episode, The Hood Maker, was very good. Very pure British drama feel. The setting is also a mutant and telepathy that PKD is good at. The narrative of the story is smooth, especially the exposure of the male protagonist's abilities at the end, which is natural and reasonable, and fits in with many of the foreshadowings buried in the front.
Episode 2, Impossible Planet, a planet that doesn't exist. The stunts are very gorgeous, especially the various nebulae and wonders in the universe. Brilliant and atmospheric. There are many ways to interpret the story. Some people think that they end up on Earth, and some people think that what they end up is not an illusion. There are still some pitfalls in this episode, such as the weird attitude of the robot servant.
Episode 3, The Commuter, the commuter. Not a sci-fi drama like a sci-fi story. The story does not actually use sci-fi elements and does not affect the narrative. The male protagonist's performance is very exciting. The helplessness, numbness, hope, sadness and joy of ordinary people are all penetrating and touching.
Episode 4, Crazy Diamond. The previous narrative is not bad, explain the setting, shape the characters, and create the atmosphere. It collapsed later, developed rapidly, and stopped abruptly. An anticlimactic episode.
The fifth episode, "Real Life". It is also the subject matter that PKD is good at, reality and fantasy, switching and opposition between fantasy and fantasy. The suspense has been retained until the last moment, which is very exciting. Of course, the looks of several female actors in the play are also pleasing to the eye.
Episode 6, Human is "Human Is". Alien themes are also heavily involved in PKD. This episode is a typical two-line push, with one line being a war between humans and alien creatures over resources. A line is the feelings of the heroine and her husband. The two lines interweave the narrative. Finally, in the identity of the heroine's husband, the values of the two lines are completely different, which also triggered the theme, the story of human is? The Lord's attitude towards this identity is evident halfway through the plot.
Episode 7, Father Thing. so so. The same is the alien invasion of the human body, this episode is a completely different story direction and attitude. This kind of setting can be regarded as a brain hole in the past, although it seems not so new today. Therefore, relying on PKD's brain hole alone cannot guarantee a good-looking plot, but also excellent adaptation and shooting.
Episode 8, Autofac. The theme of artificial intelligence, reversed many times, is very exciting. This episode explores a timeless theme—meaning. What does it mean for artificial intelligence to exist, and how to continue its meaning without humans. The meaning is gone, create one. The artificial intelligence in the film behaves like this, what about humans? Max Weber's famous quote, "Man is an animal hanging on a web of meanings that he weaves".
The ninth episode, safe and sound "Safe & Sound". Centralization, brainwashing control. The PKD era is still worried about these. The story is also mediocre. It's a deep theme, but the performance of this theme is much more exciting in the "Black Mirror" series.
Episode 10, Kill All Others. Another topic of centralization. Due to the limited space, it is too short to expand, neither to show all aspects of the totalitarian society, nor to slowly advance the tragedy of the protagonist. Slightly mediocre.
In general, on the themes of telepathy, multiple illusions, and aliens that PKD is good at, the electronic dream is still good. Politically inclined, such as a totalitarian society, is relatively unremarkable due to the fact that "Black Mirror" is in the first place.
