"Floating Dream"

It's a standard suspense movie. I was still in suspense until I watched the movie.

A story about an English aristocrat, Philip grew up with his cousin who met and married a widow in Italy. He died of a strange illness soon after. Cousin-in-law came to the manor, and Philip turned from suspicion to admiration because of her beauty. After inheriting his cousin's estate, he gave all his property to his cousin. After that, various strange actions made Philip nervous and exhausted. In the end, he didn't know whether the cousin had a love for him or a plot for property.

In the aristocratic society, a group of people who are full of food all day long and do nothing, usually fight for power and profit. What needs more stimulation is to seek money and kill their lives. These constitute the whole content of their lives. Such as "Gone with the Wind", such as "Downton Abbey", such as "The Duchess", no exception. In the end it's all about money. In recent years, this kind of money worship has spread to the whole society like an epidemic. Watching TV programs like mediation courts, it's all this shit. For money, the six relatives refused to recognize the husband and wife, and the parents and children went to court.

We see in the film that the transfer of property usually happens in legal ways. The law maintains basic justice. At the same time, this legal plunder is also the basis for countless suspense. In the British aristocratic society reflected in the film, people at least still wear a veil of warmth. Cousin-in-law conspired with Philip's property by selling emotion as a means. The so-called cousin's poisonous tea, Philip's ingenious murder, and the strange expressions of various people are also outside the law.

Although the film is just skeptical from beginning to end. On the contrary, it shows that this kind of thing happens frequently. In today's materialistic society, it seems more down-to-earth. On the surface, everyone is sanctimonious, but in their hearts they are like white-eyed wolves, always thinking about the money that belongs to them or does not belong to them. Money is an irresistible temptation. In the face of money, people are rarely able to control themselves. So the director of the film is saying: "It's okay to love money, but don't break the law, at least not on the surface." The director also told us: "In front of money, there is no emotion, no sincerity, and no conscience." Coveting Philip's property, it means that Philip's suspicion is right. If it is the opposite, the cousin is a weak woman who is pure and innocent. Then, because the environment is so bad, Philip's suspicion is beyond reproach.

If one day, the weak moral dyke is washed away, our society is very dangerous. I have no intention of blaming the society or lamenting the decline of the world, but I hope you will think about how you should face in such an environment? In the film, Philip is so rich, but he lives in doubt and fear all day long. Is he happy? Are you happy? Obviously not. Money can bring convenience, but never happiness. Maybe the current money-worshiping is an inevitable bumpy road to the other side of the ideal? Or is there something wrong with the environment we live in? unknown.

It's not easy to be alone, so do it. What I personally respect more is not the rich and rich, but the old scavenger who has raised abandoned children for decades.

The filming of the film is very special. The British Isles are so beautiful, with soft light, blue beaches, steep mountains, Victorian buildings, and silent mountains, which are fascinating.

When taking pictures of people, the use of focus is also very interesting. It is often very random focusing. In one shot, it will be on this person for a while, and then transfer to another person for a while. Even the character is talking, the focus has gradually blurred.

Rachel Weisz plays the cousin. The "Denial" I watched a few days ago is her heroine. She has played a lot of positive and negative characters. Perhaps because of this, she came to play this role, which made the audience more confused whether she was a pure and mature woman or a ruthless woman. Her performance in the film is very good, the character interpretation is just right, her eyes are firm for a while, and blurred for a while. Solidly lead the audience into the ditch.

Grainger is still so beautiful... The male protagonist will not complain. A book with a good plot and theme, but a bad one. Although I know that the director wants to make this feminine movie the effect of gently wrapping the audience in like a spider's web, the consequence of poor control is that the rhythm feels loose and powerless. The BGM that sometimes creates a suspenseful atmosphere with highs and lows is simply interference. I couldn't help falling asleep after "Don't close the door"...

    Can't escape the devil

My Cousin Rachel quotes

  • Louise: Philip, inquiries were made. My father...

    Philip: What inquiries?

Louise: In matters of the heart, it seems that Enrico Rainaldi is more Greek than he is Italian... He likes boys, Philip.

  • Philip: [under his breath] Unbelievable bitch.

    Enrico Rainaldi: Hm?

Philip: I said how much I was looking forward to seeing her.
