As a brief introduction to the life of Jesus, it can connect some fragments of previous understanding of Jesus in terms of visual experience, such as the birth of Jesus, the forgiveness of the lascivious woman, the last supper, the suspicion of his favorite disciple Peter, and seeing through the betrayal Judas, the indifference of being nailed to the cross... As a popular science of Jesus' life, it still has a certain significance, but what touched me the most was the issue of faith.
In my previous understanding, I thought that religion persecuted science, because religion competed with science for the right to explain the world. The famous Iraqi city of Baghdad that we see today was once the intellectual center of the world, and we now look up at the stars. More than two-thirds of the constellations are named in Arabic: Arabic numerals were invented by the Indians and later introduced by the Arabs Entering Europe, Baghdad has become the center of knowledge and culture in the long run. For five hundred years, Baghdad's outstanding intellectuals have concentrated on disseminating knowledge and popularizing knowledge. But after this prosperity passed, a religious fanatic stood up and said: "Mathematics is the philosophy of the devil", and then he got the approval of the rulers. From then on Baghdad no longer had knowledge, intellectuals were exiled, forbidden to speak, forbidden to do Research, to this day, we see that Baghdad has been ravaged by war and darkened. Every innovation of science and technology is blocked by countless numbers, so I think that today, each of us is a vested interest in science. In our era, the development of science is not easy, and I am a supporter of the innocence of science and technology. As for religion, I once thought it was a kind of pseudo-science policy of ignoring the people and a means of rulers.
This suspicion continued until I came into contact with a film by Ang Lee - Pi's Fantasy Drift, which mainly tells the story of Pi, a teenager who was born in India and believes in Christianity, Islam and Hinduism at the same time. Headed to the United States, experienced a Titanic-like wreck at sea, and fortunately he was on his life raft with a hyena, a zebra with a broken leg, a female orangutan, and an adult Bengal tiger "Richard" ·Paker". In the first 3 days of drifting, the hyena killed the orangutan, ate the zebra alive, and the tiger killed the hyena, so Pi had to live with the tiger. But what impressed me was another story. At the end of the film, Pi was interviewed. When he talked about his fantasy drifting on the sea, the two interviewers did not believe it and regarded it as a child's play, hoping that there would be a real s story. So Pi tells them another story - in fact, there are no animals on the lifeboat, just a cook, a sailor with a broken leg, Pi and his mother. The cook kills and eats the sailor, then kills the mother, and finally Pi can't bear to kill and eat the sailor as well. The final reality is that in the end only Pi survives. The interviewer ended up adopting the first, less brutal and brutal story. Pi then asked the visiting reporter, which of these two stories do you believe? The reporter said, the one with the tiger (the first one). Pi replied: So you follow God.
Why answer that? This is a confrontation between bestiality and divinity, a torture of faith. The real story is actually the second story, and the characters can even be matched one by one, but we artificially choose to believe the first story because it is an animal, not a human being. Humans are sacred in our eyes, not for food. Cannibalism. But in an extreme case, people's animal nature will be stimulated. Pi's whole family is vegetarian, but on the island, in order to survive, they ate the roots and stems of plants that they searched for without the soil on the ground. Therefore, I believe that both vegetarianism and religious beliefs are based on material satisfaction, and people will let go of their shackles and abandon their beliefs when they are lacking in material and hungry.
When the storm came, Pi knelt down and screamed and asked God, "You took everything from me, what do you want?" At that time, I thought that to be absolutely rational, belief could not stand the torture of fate.
But this doubt became clear when I saw the Son of God, who after Jesus died said to his disciple Thoms, "Because you have seen me, you believe in me. Those who have not seen me will believe that I am real. exists". In other words, belief exists because it is believed, and as more people believe, religion will follow. So regardless of whether the biography of Jesus is true or not, in the end his disciples spent their entire lives spreading his ideas and spreading the gospel to the world. This is the universality of belief.
Let's talk about why beliefs come into being? Jesus said that he is the Son of God, and naturally some people believe in him. He can forgive people's sins, bring people back to life, help the hungry, and guide the lost, but the rulers do not believe him, thinking that he is a false prophet, religious The defenders don't believe it, thinking he blasphemes God. At first I thought it was foolish for Jesus to keep explaining to the world that he was the Son of God, and to keep showing his superpowers to gain followers, but it is human nature to be skeptical about unknown events, the first followers of Jesus It was because they saw his superpowers, like Peter, Jesus gave him a basket full of fish when he was financially struggling and had no fish to catch, and so many people with him, so they suspected that Peter didn't do it when the storm came. Willing to cross the river to go to Jesus, Judas betrays Jesus, Thoms doubts the resurrection of Jesus...
But after the 12 disciples of Jesus, we saw more supporters. The religious council and the Supreme Court were hesitant to judge Jesus. Caesar was terrified of putting Jesus to death. Wipe his wounds, not because they were helped by Jesus, nor because they heard anecdotes about Jesus, but because of his words and deeds, his church, his humility. He said: "Those who react with the sword will die by the sword." He never used force to promote ideas. He said, "What belongs to Caesar is to Caesar, and what belongs to God is to God." He preached the separation of church and state, and opposed becoming the king of Israel. Thoughts to control people, but tell people that you are all guilty, discipline yourself and treat others leniently. After being crucified, Jesus said, "Father, forgive them for what they did not know they did." Jesus has been telling us "I am the way, the truth, and the life" throughout his life. Seeing this, I feel that Jesus cannot be regarded as a person. He is more like a symbol, a sign of truth, and eager for people to follow. Those superpowers receive the gift of truth.
But in real life, we believe in God and fate. When we are in adversity, we always talk about "Fate should be like this" and "God, why don't you help me", and when the situation does not improve, we instinctively doubt its existence, but what is it that guides us? Our heart, the divinity of the heart, the invisible God who guides mankind. It is both independent of human beings and part of human beings. At the critical moment, it is actually ourselves who ask us to ask for help, and it is the morality that people follow in their hearts, so we are called "people".
Do people not believe in God? Did you abandon me? Pi ran to the church and asked the priest, God sent his own son into the world and made him suffer for mankind. Is this called love? The priest replied, all you need to know is that he loves us. The ending of the movie also answers this question: God's Son led the way to save people, escaped the bitter sea of cannibalism, and eliminated animal nature step by step. This is God's love.
