After reading it twice, I have some feelings. The film begins with a monologue. "The person we hate is always not far from us, and because of this, the person we love can't be close to each other. The harsh reality, I have known from the beginning. But some truths are worth our attention, others are best ignored ." This monologue forms the developmental context of the film. First of all, the handsome protagonist, because of some sad things, felt the coldness of reality and decided to escape from the world. Next, the story on the island made him find the truth worthy of attention, and he chose to face the reality and defend his truth. 1. When the captain accompanies him to the lighthouse to find the former station master (Eldor Vigeland), they meet Graner (actually Eldor Vigeland). The captain's first reaction was that he didn't think the man should be the former stationmaster, Eldor Vigeland. This also indicates that Eldor Vigeland's personality will be completely abandoned. The director's treatment in this way proves that the impression in the eyes of others affects the behavior of this person. 2. The handsome protagonist saw the days and photos left by Eldo Vigeland. As a logical foreshadowing. The date of the diary is 1913, indicating that Eldor Vigeland came to the island for about a year. And, for a long time, nothing happened. Because he was writing a diary in this hut. Why did the latter happen? It will be mentioned later in the film that the fish girl was rescued by Eldor Vigeland. Perhaps from then on, he discovered this new species and began to pay attention to research. Slowly began to like her. Because of this, it angered the fish people and started fighting mode. 3. The protagonist handsome guy joins his camp and gradually develops feelings for the fish girl. One day, the handsome guy saw a boat and was about to send a flare for help. But it was stopped by Granner. At this time, Granner completely believed that he was the master of the world on this island, and he didn't want to be disturbed by the outside world, and at the same time, he didn't want the people of this world to leave him. 4. The handsome protagonist fished out some explosives from the bottom of the sea and killed a large number of murlocs. While clearing the battlefield the next morning, the handsome guy found a murloc ornament, and he began to identify with the murlocs. However, Granner is still cold to the end, maybe he uses this behavior to strengthen his mental illusion! 5. The protagonist is handsome and found out that Granner is Eldo Vigeland. At the same time, the fish girl also appeared. Handsome wants to reconcile, showing that he is ready to escape from the world of misperceptions that Granner has constructed. However, Granner undermines Handsome's reconciliation intentions with slaughter. The handsome guy had a fight with Graner, and at the moment when the handsome guy was killed, the handsome guy said, "Eldor Vigeland, not a murderer". This sentence bottomed out Granner's mental defenses. During their time together, the spiritual world that Granner built by himself began to crack, and the more violent behavior was to defend the spiritual world he built. When violence reaches its peak, that is, when it is most vulnerable, it is awakened by the handsome guy's words. After sobering up, he was the most vulnerable and helpless, and he chose to atone! 6. At the end, the officer came to the tower. It is also that he thinks Granner, and asks the whereabouts of the stationmaster. Suddenly, he understood Eldor Vigeland's state of mind. He also chose to abandon his past self, but he felt that it was not to escape, but to better pursue what he wanted. In the end, he left the island with the boat, returned to reality, and bravely pursued what he wanted. At the end, the fish girl, knowing that he was gone, jumped into the sea and chased after him. The ultimate truth is that if you pursue it bravely, nothing else matters. Note: The Irish War of Independence began with the declaration of the Republic of Ireland in the Easter Rising of 1916. The handsome protagonist looks like an Irish guy! Posted on 2018-03-15 8 Comments 3
