"Civilization" is a compromise after the killing.

A friend recommended "Legend of Ice Skin", saying that it was suspected to be a prequel to "The Shape of Water", but the score was not high, less than seven points. After watching it, I found that the reason for the low rating was mainly due to the lack of detailed explanation of the film, which left the audience with some doubts, but for audiences who like the overall look and feel, rather than being loyal to the details, I think this does not affect the look and feel at all. "Legend of Ice Skin" (adapted from: "Cold Skin" Author: (Spain) Albert Sanchez Pinol) has to be said to be a work that is very worthy of our consideration.

A brief synopsis of the story: During the First World War, a meteorologist-observer escaped the clutter of the world and traveled to an isolated island to do research. I got a "visit" from Lizardface that night. On the second night, after fighting with Lizardface, I accidentally burned down my hut, causing the hut to lose its defenses completely.

Escaped to the distant lighthouse, and fought with the lizard face together with a lighthouse keeper who lived there every night. In the end, a lizard face massacre was drawn into the symbol of the end of the battle between humans and lizard face.

I have to say, there are a lot of things in the movie that fascinated me. For example, the lizard face that they fight every day is a creature that is similar in size to humans, has not fully evolved, and has not yet been discovered by humans.

The lighthouse is to be the master of the island, a kind of micro-society in which he establishes his own order. Compared with the real society, the social system here is distorted. The lizard face in the eyes of the lighthouseman can be said to be a subject, a slave, and an enemy. It can be suppressed, intimidated, and even massacred at will.

The lizard face can be said to be similar to the "wolf" in human society to the lighthouse. When humans invade the territory of the lizard face, they will resist and fight, but some will be tamed, will become "dogs", and will "obey" their masters.

What does that lizard face think of humans? I still don't understand why Lizardface would attack the only two humans on the island. There are so many creatures in the sea that it is impossible for them to position humans as prey to hunt.

They work tirelessly to besiege the lighthouse every night. If they are vampire-like animals, they are actually irrational animals, but from the point of view that the female lizard face and humans can have feelings, they are definitely sensible. their own living environment and a unique set of social relationships.

Then I speculate that it is because the female lizard face has a relationship with the lighthouse keeper, and the female lizard face or the original lizard face does not want the female lizard face to be with the human, so she comes to avenge the emotional revenge every night. This also indirectly explains why after the death of the lighthouse, the unarmed observers can live peacefully. Because this emotional hatred ceases to exist after the death of the lighthouse. This also explains why the female lizard face did not return to the lighthouse to live with humans after the death of the lighthouse keeper.

After the massacre, the love of the female lizard face was insignificant compared to racial feelings, and she began to clearly realize that it would only get worse if it went on like this. But she hopes to turn the hatred away and end the war between humans and lizard faces.

Because if the lighthouseman makes compromises in his attitude, it will lead to the collapse of his world view, and he cannot bear this consequence. Walking into the lizard face group and being slaughtered by the lizard face, he chose a permanent compromise.

Tolerance and understanding cannot bring civilization; a massacre brings both sides into a desperate situation, and only "civilization" can be exchanged.
