"Woman Affected" dramatically reveals the housewife's difficult choice between multiple roles and herself. In a blue-collar family, Mayer, a woman who takes care of three young children alone, is overwhelmed, tired, old, and slightly neurotic. The man Nick is busy with his co-workers, and Nick is short-tempered and impatient. Even something as romantic as dating a wife can seem like a chore.

The fuse of the story is that Nick received an urgent assignment, and the time just collided with the date. But Nick didn't tell his wife about it in advance, but kept delaying. Finally Nick called and, as expected, his wife, who had been waiting for the man to come home, was actually very anxious and out of control. A series of chain reactions followed. Although the two did not quarrel on the phone, Mayer's inner anger had been ignited. Lonely and irritable, she urgently needs the numbness of alcohol and the comfort of a man. So Mayer quickly brought back a strange man from the bar. The next day I woke up and pretended not to know each other again.

When the husband brought a group of co-workers to the house for a party, it was very comfortable for everyone to chat and laugh at first, until Mayer's behavior towards the guests during the meal was a little weird, but Nick's temperament changed from being warm and hospitable. It is even more unacceptable to be angry. Everyone quietly dispersed in silence, leaving space for husband and wife to be alone. But all interest was ruined at this point. Nick's coercion gave Mayer no voice, and Nick was very picky about Mayer's behavior. In front of Nick, Mayer accumulated too much grievance and anger, so when Mayer's mother came back with the child, Mayer repeatedly vented to his mother and made hysterical.

Mayer always tries her best to do her role as a good mother and a good neighbor. So when the neighbor man sent the child to Nick's house and wanted to help take care of it, she was very enthusiastic and held a party for the children. But a phone call between her and her husband unexpectedly caused herself to be misunderstood. An angry Nick rushed home and saw the naked children running around. When he saw Mayer and the neighbor man in a bedroom, jealousy and anger immediately eroded Nick's mind. He didn't ask anything and immediately slapped it. Mayer slapped her face, then scuffled with her neighbors. Faced with what happened at home, the man thought Mayer was crazy, called the doctor and decided to send Mayer to a mental hospital.

Mayer tried to break free, hysterical to show resistance, obedient to show normality, talking about her love with her husband, about her family with her children, and her friendship with her friends and neighbors. The reason she stayed in this house. But her mother-in-law scolded her for her dereliction of duty. As a wife, it was unfaithful for her to let a stranger stay in the night. As a mother, it was unrighteous for her to let her child starve naked. She was not a normal woman. She was crazy. Nick, as his husband, said he loved her, no matter what. But in the end, he insisted that Mayer be sent to a mental hospital, so that Mayer received electric shock treatment for 6 months.

Six months later, Nick couldn't wait to pick Mayer back, and even gathered a crowd to celebrate. Just because, during the six months that Mayer was away, Nick took into account both family and work, and it was miserable. He had to get Mayer back to take on the family burden. When Mayer returned home, he turned to his father for help, but they sat idly by. In such a patriarchal society, Mayer can only fight single-handedly with the men trapped in the family, and she fought hard. In such a closed family, outsiders don't know, Nick can be a different person. Mayer slumped to the ground, physically and mentally exhausted.

In the end, the one who guarded Mayer turned out to be a young child. Because he was afraid that his father would hurt his fragile mother, he worked together to trap his father and guard his mother. At the end of the film, Mayer, for the sake of her children, for survival, and even out of fear, accepts the identity her society has given her, to be a dutiful mother and a virtuous wife, as if nothing had happened. back to normal.
