Therefore, the Trotskyite group "Red Fortress" in the play sent gold to Istanbul to finance Trotsky's "constant revolution". The struggle for gold is a main line in the film.
In the film, the members of "Red Fortress" raised their arms and shouted "Down with Stalin" and threw flying knives on Stalin's portrait. It was precisely to depict the extreme hatred between Trotskyists and Spiegelists. The so-called "peers are enemies".
However, the shouting "Long live the Fourth International" in the film is not in line with history, because in 1929 Toshiba had not given up his fight for the leadership of the "Third International". Trotsky did not organize the Fourth International until Hitler came to power in 1933.
The main reason why one of the protagonists, Alexei Kadakoff, did not contact the powerful German Communist Party after the "Red Fortress" was hit hard is that their small group was completely a "heretic". As early as four years ago, the Communist Party of Germany had expelled the German Trotskyist group "Maslov-Luther Fisher Group" from the party, elected a new leader, and completely turned to the Sect. Therefore, Kadakoff did not dare to use the power of the German Communist Party to transfer gold. Being discovered by the Communist Party of Germany is equivalent to being discovered by the Soviet Union, and still being beaten into a hornet's nest by the agents, so Kadakoff can only hide in Tibet like a mouse, and even allied with the underworld to try to get revenge.
(2) The play talks about the massacre of the German WORKER class on May 1, which is the "Bloody May" event that has seriously affected world history. Going back in time, we see that the WORKER class in Berlin in 1929 was extremely powerful, even quite revolutionary.
But how did it all end and go the other way?
This is to talk about the political environment of the Weimar Republic at that time. With the rise of German industry, the German working class has become an extremely powerful force. Its main representatives are the German Social Democratic Party and the German Communist Party. These two parties were actually one party before World War I, which was established in 1863. The "German Social Democratic Party", part of the party's ideological origins came from Mann, and it has long pursued justice and progress, paid attention to the suffering of the people at the bottom, and had a certain nationalism.
The party is an important party in the Second International, but on the issue of whether it should support the German GOV to fight World War I, a big split has occurred within the German Social Democratic Party. The final result was that the German Social Democrats chose to support World War I, which directly led to the disintegration of the Second International. At the same time, the left wing of the party (Spartacist faction) split on its own, and the Communist Party of Germany was established in 1919.
During the Weimar Republic, the Social Democratic Party was the largest party, even the ruling party, but it generally only had about 30% of the votes and was a weak party. For this reason, it frequently formed a joint GOV with other political parties. And because of its awkward relationship with the Communist Party of Germany, the two parties are always at odds with each other. 33 civilians were killed, 198 were injured, more than 1,200 people were arrested, and 47 police were injured when the "Bloody May" happened, which coincided with the appointment of German Chancellor Hermann Mueller, a member of the Social Democratic Party. The German Communist Party was dissatisfied with the government's performance, and the relationship between the two parties dropped to a freezing point. The extremely pro-Soviet armed organization "Red Front" in the Communist Party of Germany was also banned (in fact, the Communist Party of Germany is not as harmless to humans and animals as in the film), about this organization, you can see "Red Front" and "Storm Troops" Do both ends of the spectrum. The events of "Bloody May" led to a further division of the power of the working class, and the rise of an unpopular party, although he is still very inconspicuous, in the general election of 1928 he received only 2.6% of the vote, but a year later They will explode and wipe out both the SPD and the German Communist Party, his name is - the Nazis!
PS: German Chancellor Brandt, who knelt in Poland, and German Chancellor Schroeder in previous years are both members of the Social Democratic Party. The party continues to this day and is still an important force in German politics. The end of the company went right, and there were no losses, so the name has not been changed. It is the only old party among German political parties that has never changed its name.
(3) In the second episode of the play, Sveta, the lover of Alexei Kadakoff, betrayed. In order to swallow the gold, she confided to the Soviet ambassador, which attracted GRU (?) killers to turn all the members of the "Red Fortress" into a hornet's nest.
In fact, this section is also inconsistent with history, because in April 1929, although the Stalinists were already on the same page as the Trotskyists, the issue of physical destruction had not yet been implemented. The two sides still regard each other as "contradictions within the party", and they mainly rely on ideological struggle and expulsion from the left. The hunting of Trotskyists in Germany only started in the 1930s. Although Stalin said in 1931, "In fact, Trotskyism has long ceased to be a faction of GCism. In fact, Trotskyism is opposed to GCism, the Soviet regime, and the construction of Soviet SHism. "The vanguard of the anti-G-ZC class", but the Third International and the Soviet Union still did not take the form of physical extermination to solve the problem of European Trotskyites. However, as Stalin's status became increasingly stable, in 1934, through the assassination of Kirov (a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China), Stalin launched a major revolt. And began the physical execution of Trotskyites. The work of killing the Trotskyist remnants in Germany was carried out by GRU.
There is also something to be said about the cover profession "band" of the members of "Red Fortress". In fact, there was indeed a red intelligence agency in Germany called the "Red Orchestra", which was active from 1938 to 1942. The biggest achievement was to send out important information that the "Barbarossa" operation was about to start. In 1942, its leader Jew Trepper He was arrested as a double agent, and then fled to France. After the end of World War II, he was detained by the Soviets in Lubyanka Prison for several years.
As for Trotsky himself, it is even more interesting. After he came out of Turkey, he went to France and Norway, and tried to enter the United States during this period, but Roosevelt refused to let him die.
In the end, he had to settle down in Mexico. In August 1940, Trotsky was beaten to death by Stalin's assassins in Mexico.
In the next section we will tell the story of the Wehrmacht, which is a powerful dark thread in the whole play.
(4) The Wehrmacht generals and World War I veterans in the play shouted the slogan "Who betrayed us? Social Democrats!"
We know earlier that the German Republican Social Democrats were separated from each other because of the dispute over ideas and the "Bloody May" incident. Why is the Wehrmacht so dissatisfied with this ruling party?
The source of everything is the war.
At the end of 1917, the revolutionary situation in Russia broke out. The Wehrmacht believes that as long as an armistice is reached with Russia and the United States has not yet fully engaged in the war, the troops on the Eastern Front can be transferred to the Western Front in time to win the war!
And this dream of the Wehrmacht was really partially realized. In March 1918, Lenin signed the "Brest-Litovsk Peace Treaty" to cede 3.23 million square kilometers of territory, pay 6 billion marks, and announced his withdrawal from World War I.
The German Wehrmacht saw the dawn of victory in World War I, but due to the huge trauma caused by the long-term war to German society, the people in the rear could no longer bear it, so they rose up. Headed by the Spartacus faction of the Social Democratic Party, the joint navy and workers held the "November Revolution" to announce the overthrow of Kaiser Wilhelm, and established a democratic republic headed by the Social Democratic Party.
As the rear government announced its surrender, the German Wehrmacht, who was fighting bloody battles with Britain, France and the United States, had to lay down their weapons and stop fighting.
However, the middle and senior levels of the Wehrmacht were extremely dissatisfied with the armistice. They believed that Germany still had a great chance of winning. After all, the entire German army’s organizational system remained intact during the armistice, and the German army still retained a large number of troops to fight. The Allies had not even penetrated into German territory.
The Wehrmacht believed that it was the traitors of the Social Democrats who had destroyed the victory at hand - the legendary "stab in the back".
At the same time, according to the "Peace of Versailles" that was forced to be signed, the German troops were reduced from more than 10 million to 100,000, and the officers were reduced from 56,000 to 4,000, and they were not allowed to have offensive weapons such as heavy artillery and tanks, or even heavy machine guns. This treaty was a great insult to the Wehrmacht. There is nowhere for the anger of a large number of officers to lose their jobs.
The Wehrmacht quickly came to the conclusion "Who betrayed us? Social Democrats!"
