At the end of the 1980s, the pattern of the entire world was in turmoil. The forces of East and West competed repeatedly, and the iron curtain was torn little by little. And Berlin, because of its special geographical location, has become the epitome of struggle. After the Second World War, Berlin was artificially divided into different occupied areas in the East and the West. Until the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961, people in East and West Berlin were able to communicate normally. The urban areas where many people live are different from the urban areas where they work. Berlin has gathered a large number of spies from various places, because of its geographical particularity, it is convenient for spies to exchange information and contact the other side's forces. And spies, because of their own interests, have spawned a variety of double-sided or even three-sided spies, and the stories in them are really wonderful.
The heroine in the film is a multifaceted spy who serves the British MI5 and provides intelligence to the KGB. In fact, the real identity is a CIA agent. The play in the film is of course wonderful, but what I admire more is that the director truly reproduced the big pattern of the year.
First of all, in terms of characters, the film’s portrayal of characters conforms to Western aesthetic standards, that is, the cruelty of the KGB, the stupidity of the East German secret police "Spacey", the loyalty of British agents, and the naivety of French agents. Of course, only American agents are available. It is wise and brave, ha ha.
The description of the life scenes of the East Germans is also in place. What we see is not only the embarrassment of the lives of the East German people under the Western blockade, but we also see the pursuit of life of East German youths, wearing punk heads and dancing thunderbolts. Dance, open a secret underground party with the accompaniment of a cassette recorder.
As for music, not to mention, there are so many familiar 80 golden skewers, the popular Eurobeat at that time, but in East Germany, listening to Western music seemed to be a secret thing, so I heard it in the safe house of British spies. When I played the part of Father Figue by George Michale, I was still surprised.
The day when the Berlin Wall was overthrown was also the last day the spies struggled to the death. Perhaps for the sake of the plot, the director did not show the scene of the day’s parade until breaking through the wall. In fact, that was the scene I wanted to see most. .
The most successful film is the description of espionage, stalking, probing, imagining and committing snakes, assassinations and fighting, psychological contests and so on. There are more dramas, but it is very real.
