Very disappointed

The acting exploded... the soundtrack is also very suitable, the narrow underground scene, the light and shade of light and shadow suppress the dark moments, the anxiety, the conflict performance is very good, and the outbreak at the end is also very powerful. But the plot is completely incomprehensible, and I don't understand what the film wants to express. Fully restore Churchill this great man? Praise the great and indomitable British people? Tell the real historical events? I feel I want to do it, but I didn't do it well. The film is very finely cut, and the characters are labelled, alcoholism, barefoot, pajamas, wearing a top hat, smoking a cigar, V-gesture, excellent speech ability, Churchill is such a person, there is no need to spend a long time doing close-ups, who I do not know?

But what about these superficial things? Originally, I watched the movie with a learning attitude. Chamberlain’s resignation, Churchill’s leadership, the deterioration of the current situation, the conflict of interest, the collision of opinions... these events and the mutual influence and mutual promotion of the characters, how each decision related to the process of world history was made, and what happened What kind of game, what role did Churchill play in it... These things, which I think are the key points, are too superficial in the movie, and it can even be said to be ridiculously superficial.

At the end, Churchill took the subway for the first time and heard the opinions of several citizens, (especially a black man who was politically correct, who watched my special play). After a speech, he persuaded the officials of the Senate and the House of Representatives to sit firmly. The position has set the tone of the main battle group. The old routine is not going to talk about it, and it was revealed that his bureaucratic family, father and son two ministers of finance, separated from the people, and aloof, but in the film it is shown as a big climax. To be honest, this tone is really discordant. The taste of my socialist successor→_→

In addition, in this film, Churchill’s criticism of Hitler is full of painters, mud legs, and big soldiers. This kind of personal attack full of superiority is in contrast with the feelings of the people in the last subway. The irony comes out at once (especially the one with a barrier in the subway, which fits this painter)

In summary, maybe I don’t agree with the three views of this film. For a two-hour movie, the plot requirements can’t be too high, but I can’t tolerate the film seeing me as an idiot...

It's not the audience for this film, it's a pity that I've lost such a good acting skill in vain.

Yes, the performance of Churchill is very good, and the plot is also good. The only flaw, I think, is the ending. However, the flaws do not hide the beauty.

Darkest Hour quotes

  • Winston Churchill: [in his first speech as Prime Minister] But now one bond unites us all. To wage war until victory is won, and never to surrender ourselves to servitude and shame. Whatever the cost and the agony may be, conquer we must, as conquer we shall.

  • Winston Churchill: Do I have your, uh, permission, uh, to send, uh, an aircraft carrier to pick up the P-40 fighter planes we purchased from you? Mr. President?

President Roosevelt: Well, you-you've got me there again. New law preventing transshipment of military equipment.

Winston Churchill: Uh, but we paid for them. We-we paid for them with the money that we... that we borrowed from you.
