Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five is composed of a DJ (Grandmaster Flash) and five rappers (Melle Mel, The Kidd Creole, Keith Cowboy, Mr. Ness/Scorpio, Rahiem), who have a passion for turntablism, break- The use of beat deejaying (mixing different records while playing to make beats) and the use of conscious lyricism were important influences on the early development of Hip-Hop. In 1982, the group released their first album, The Message , which was a huge success in the mainstream market. After the release of the hit single White Lines the following year, the group fell apart due to a dispute over royalties, after which Granmaster Flash tried to bring in new members, but could not use the original name (i.e. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were owned by Sugar Hill Records), and thereafter performed on the show There was a brief reunion, but never a formal reorganization.
The status and influence of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five in the history of hip-hop need not be said much. In 2007, they were introduced by Jay-Z and entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, becoming the first rap artist to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
