about life itself

The opening 30 minutes of "Life Is Like a Play" are not very engaging. As a documentary about dead celebrities, the director did not use the usual flashbacks, but used Roger Ebert's days in the hospital throughout. A non-linear narrative approach to its growth process. Until 40 minutes later, I cooperated with a friend to open a film column, got married at the age of 50, my friend died of illness, I had cancer and had my chin removed, and I was a film critic who couldn't "voice"... Seeing this, I released a film critic's opinion on life. A signal of optimism and open-mindedness, in tears, Roger's incomplete smile has been flooding the screen.
Life is like a drama, a drama is like a film critic who eats with words, his jaw is removed and he cannot speak, a drama is like a rough and perfect combination of white and black, a drama is like a perfectionist who was rated as a movie warrior by Herzog after falling ill Still chasing dreams. Roger turned his life into a one-of-a-kind inspirational film. After he fell ill, he insisted on completing seemingly impossible tasks such as building a film website, publishing film reviews, and speaking tours until he felt that he could let go.
And the series of data created by Roger in "Life is Like a Play" is itself the best proof to pay tribute to the film or all filmmakers: more than 6,000 film reviews have been written on tens of thousands of films that have been watched in the past 25 years. The 100 movies recommended in the book "Great Movies", each of which has been enjoyed no less than ten times... He only did two things in his life, watching movies and writing movies. People commented that the movie reviews he wrote were even better than movies. To look good, is this not enough? In his last blog before his death, Roger wrote: Although he is gone, his heart will still be there, see you at the cinema.
The last sentence of The Great Gatsby is quoted in the film: So we strive forward, but like a boat against the current, we are destined to keep going back to the past. I don't know why, but I also want to make this sentence the end of today.

Life Itself quotes

  • Roger Ebert: We're both consious of the passage of time, of it's flow, slipping through our fingers, like a long silk scarf.

  • Rick Kogan: I don't know Pauline Kael. I never knew Pauline Kael, but fuck Pauline Kael. Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel were the most powerful critics of all-time in any realm.
