gnashing of teeth

This is a Lara movie that doesn't take the usual path. In fact, strictly speaking, it shouldn't be counted. This unusual path also has a specific era background. In general, the viewing process is not pleasant, because the story and the background of the times are too gnashing of teeth, and it is this hatred that makes this movie.
The first thing that made people grit their teeth was these bear children. Like "Hunting", this lie about the love history of the two female teachers started with a child, and then everyone unconditionally believed in the child. The irony is that the direct consequence is that all parents put The children in the school were picked up, because such a situation would affect the children. Seeing such a child's face full of viciousness since childhood, do you really want to slap it down? What does innocence and purity mean?
The second level of irony is the truth itself, Martha didn't realize her feelings for Karen, or she was always avoiding it, but a child's lie forced her to think and discovered the truth under the lie. What was said was false, but it revealed the truth that half of the parties did not know. This is a tragedy in itself, and I need others to expose my emotions in such a slanderous way, and it scares everyone including myself. This directly led to the tragedy of Martha's suicide. She was not completely unable to pass the test of others, she was unable to pass the test of herself. In the 1960s, the accusation of homosexuality in the United States was still negative in all aspects, even if it was to escape from the incident itself , self-identity and the relationship with the social community can never be fulfilled. Even if the individual is more publicized, the person is still a social person. If there are too many people, there will be no good things. It seems to be an eternal curse for human beings.
Another irony is that Karen, the victim of all this, is the mark of purity, and it would be utterly innocent to have Audrey Hepburn in this role. But I always feel that her image has a sense of inaction and powerlessness, which may also be a limitation of the times. Although the expression of the film is very 1960s, the actors perform all kinds of exaggerated close-ups, but the emotional rendering is still in place.
