And this kind of movie is really unbelievable.
The subject matter is old, we endure it, and the story is bad, we endure it, but the characters, the characters, can't be without souls. From the stunned performances of the actors, we can't understand the reasons for everything.
The soul of the movie lies in the characters, and the soul of the characters lies in the emotions. Even biochemical humans and robots can resonate with us because they are not human-like emotional expressions. From "Terminator 2"'s T-800 and John Connor Jr.'s deep relationship established in the battles that escaped death again and again, to "Ghost in the Shell", Motoko's infinite exploration of his own meaning and the kind of relationship with Bart From the tacit understanding of the soul, to the David who yearns for human identity and human feelings in "AI", to the strength, bravery and enthusiasm of WALL-E, who is more human than humans in "WALL-E". So, these classic robot/cyborg characters, in the final analysis, are still human beings clothed in technology and metal.
Humans are the only self-aware and emotional beings of the known species. Humans have never ceased their fantasies of self-improvement, playing God, and creating other emotionally advanced beings.
In this film, it seems that the emergence of artificial intelligence is just a coincidence, and it is generated by the combat robot in order to improve itself as a target. And all this has nothing to do with self-cognition, human interrelationships, and emotions. Therefore, such a cold process and ending cannot make people integrate into it and have an emotional resonance. Just like the heroine who is cold from beginning to end, who doesn't know where she came from, and doesn't know where she goes.
