Live what you write.

It doesn't matter what the work turns into in the end. Life is our most important work. John’s passion is in Lanhua, Susan’s passion is following John, Charlie’s passion is following Susan, we always want to complete other people’s stories, thinking that this will become our own story. In fact, this is certainly not the case. The movie has a terrible ending, but at the same time it has a wonderful ending: Charlie has a vulgar affair, but walks into his life shiningly to confess. Who cares, "You are what you love, not what loves you." The work is just a scumbag, whether it is self or cover up, there will always be people who don't like it. Kaufman’s brilliant place is right here. It’s yours. It’s all over. You should drive away quickly, how to live.

"Anyway, it's done, and that's something .... So, Kaufman drove off after his lunch with Amelia, filled for first time with hope.I like this .... This is good."

Highly recommended so as Kaufman A smart, sincere, and unobtrusive playwright director.

Adaptation. quotes

  • John Laroche: You know why I like plants?

    Susan Orlean: Nuh uh.

John Laroche: Because they're so mutable. Adaptation is a profound process. Means you figure out how to thrive in the world.

Susan Orlean: [pause] Yeah but it's easier for plants. I mean they have no memory. They just move on to whatever's next. With a person though, adapting almost shameful. It's like running away.

  • Donald Kaufman: [about McKee] But he says that we have to realize that we all write in a genre, and we must find our originality within that genre. See it turns out, there hasn't been a new genre since Fellini invented the mockumentary...? My genre's thriller, what's yours?
