Thinking of Natural Disaster

This is a work more than ten years ago. It is said that this film is the first work of "pure picture philosophy" in modern movies. Although it has been a long time from the perspective of time, it is different from some disaster movies similar to aliens, geocentric crises, and super earthquakes in that tornadoes are easy to occur in the real world. Although the intensity may not be as good as those mentioned in the film, there is no denying the authenticity of its existence. This is different from the "Magnitude 10.5 Earthquake". Although earthquakes occur from time to time, the probability of occurrence of an earthquake of magnitude 10.5 is almost impossible. For the F5 tornado with the highest intensity in this film, according to the data, there is almost one every year in the United States alone. There were 7 F5 tornadoes in one day on April 3, 1974! So the film can be said to be a complete scientific basis. Up.

I believe that many people have never seen a tornado of such intensity, so it is impossible for ordinary viewers to verify the authenticity of the intensity of the wind and the scene after the raging in the film. As for the male and female protagonists who were in the wind but escaped by chance The scene of the movie is mainly due to the need to express the theme of the film. After all, this is not a popular science education film, so it is reasonable to be somewhat illogical.

I remember when I was very young, I witnessed a small tornado with my own eyes. In a large rice field, a wind column rotated upwards and proceeded in an irregular line. I remembered spinning a bundle of straw into the air. However, it didn't take long before the wind pillar disappeared, and the bundle of straw was blown hundreds of meters away. This is the first time I have seen a tornado. Due to my young age, I don't know much about it. I just think the wind is weird.

Compared with the disaster films shot in this era, this film is obviously not at the same level in terms of special effects, but this should be a superior work in that era. Moreover, this film is different from many films of the same type full of apocalyptic complex in that it does not describe too much the huge disaster caused by tornadoes, and the panic atmosphere and deaths and injuries of human beings in the face of disasters. The positive attitude describes the process of human struggle with tornadoes, highlighting the positive thinking that "man will conquer the sky". As for the love stories of the heroes and heroines in the film, in my opinion, it is not the main theme, it is just an embellishment.

Generally speaking, this film has nothing special in its current eyes. But I always feel that it is very different from ordinary disaster movies. If a general disaster movie is a drama, a romance or a tragedy, then this movie is like a comedy, and the characters in the movie are all the same. A very positive attitude is to take the initiative to challenge disasters.
