Nick Fisher got up early in the morning and left his girlfriend in a hurry, saying that there was something important today.

Fast-food restaurant.
I'd like a cup of coffee.
Ok, there are many options, this special or this package is only two euros.
I just want a regular cup of coffee.
OK, 4.3 euros.
Halo, just a cup of coffee is so expensive, why?
No reason.

There was not enough change, so I went out to the ATM to withdraw money, and threw the change into the beggar's cup. The bank card was accidentally swallowed, and he wanted to get the money back from the beggar's cup, but he had to give up under the suspicious eyes of passers-by. This was the first time Nick didn't get his coffee today.

Just moved to the new apartment, a pile of boxes are piled up randomly, and the photos in the boxes are casually flipped.

A month ago, the drunk driving needs to be reviewed. Nick rushed there in a hurry. The reviewers continued to use various language traps to induce Nick to say unfavorable words to himself. Although he responded with extreme care, he was finally hit and did not get his driver's license back.

Back at the apartment, the uncle of the neighbor downstairs brought the meatballs that his wife specially made for the new neighbor. He barely tasted the uncle and still did not want to leave. The uncle was eager to spy on the privacy of the new neighbor. Inviting the uncle to come in, the initial greeting was normal, but the uncle finally broke out after seeing a photo of Nick in Paris.

It's good to be young, he has nothing now, his wife has breast cancer, and the two have no children, no feelings, and no sex. The wife cooks in the kitchen as a whole, and he watches TV and plays games in the basement every day. Nick Fisher asked him if he had anyone to talk to. He looked at Nick suspiciously, as if to say, am I not talking to you now? Nick asks if he has no friends?

The uncle leaves, Nick dumps the meatballs, and a tasteless marriage doesn't seem to make delicious food.

Nick's friend Maze called and took him out to eat at a small restaurant first.
I'd like a cup of coffee.
There was no coffee and the coffee machine was broken.
Then white water.

The girl who came to dinner recognized Nick and was very excited. I was called Fat Dunzi Eureka when I was a child. Later, I succeeded in losing weight in a weight loss boarding school. I liked you when I was a child. Come see my show at 9pm tonight.

Ma Ze said yes, I am also acting. Nick is perfect.

They came to the set of Ma Ze's friend, who was filming a World War II-themed film. He was the first male, playing a Nazi civil servant who liked a Jewish female publisher and hid her in his basement to escape the catastrophe. He said that he could introduce some of Maze's role, and at the same time asked Nick if he would like to play, but Nick was not interested.

Maze went to the producer to talk, Nick was going to pour a cup of coffee in the coffee pot in the lounge area, but still failed to do so, the coffee pot was empty. Maze's friend greeted Nick, and when he turned to leave, the staff just came over with a full pot of coffee in exchange for the empty pot.

Ma Ze's friends say that Ma Ze is a very good actor. He has had countless film appointments, but he has never picked a role that he is satisfied with, but he is still an excellent actor and a friend worthy of dating.

Nick and Maze watched the filming of Maze's friends. At the end of the film, World War II ended. When the happy woman publisher was finally free to be together, the Nazi officer said that it was me who was going to hide now.

Nick's father called to ask him to meet at the golf course. After sitting down he still asked for coffee, still no. His father found out that he had already dropped out of school and asked him what he wanted to do. He said he wanted to think about life.

His father recounted his experiences of giving up halfway from childhood to adulthood, and told him that his bank card had been cancelled, leaving a few hundred yuan in cash for him to start making a living on his own.

After leaving his father, Nick went to take the subway, and the ticket machine seemed to be against him and couldn't sell tickets normally. He was found by the staff without a ticket, handed over the documents and fined 40 euros, or called the police. He didn't like both options, and while dealing with the two staff members, he took advantage of the chaos to escape.

Before Maze picks Nick up to the show, he goes to a place to buy drugs. A youth who sells drugs lives with his grandmother. Nick didn't want to take drugs and left the room for an excuse. A huge contrast to the grandson's room. In another room, grandma was lying quietly on a large massage chair listening to Bach. She said it was given to her by his grandson, and invited Nick, who fell asleep peacefully in the chair. This is the best time of the day.

Nick and Maze go to the theater to watch Eureka perform. The performance belongs to the kind of non-mainstream experimental drama, Nick's face is confused, and Maze can't help snickering. After watching the performance, Nick still didn't get coffee, and because of Maze's snickering and their lateness, there was another quarrel with the director.

The girl and Nick were standing on the street chatting. When they were harassed by the gangsters, the girl retaliated with sharp words, which caused Nick to be beaten. Nick was dismissive of the girl's overreaction, who said you'll never know what kind of stress a 80kg little girl has ever been through. The girl still couldn't let go of her past obesity, and once again overreacted, the two broke up.

Nick came to the bar alone.
coffee?
So late, the coffee has been discontinued, drink the bar.

Nick has no interest in anything and doesn't know what he wants or wants to do. Drinking coffee seems to be the only clear thing about his day, and it's also something that has never been able to be fulfilled.

An old man came to chat with Nick. The old man said that he left Berlin 60 years ago, and now everything is unfamiliar when he comes back. When he was young, he once shattered the window glass of Jews under the guidance of his father, and many glass were shattered that day. The broken glass on the ground made the teenager very sad, so he couldn't ride a bicycle.

The old man was drunk on the street as soon as he left the bar. After the ambulance arrived, Nick accompanied the old man to the hospital. Although he was not a relative of the old man, Nick waited there all night. Early in the morning, the nurse woke Nick and told him that the old man had died. He asked the old man's name and whether the old man had any relatives.

At this moment, for the first time, he paid attention to one person and one thing from beginning to end.

With a cup of fragrant coffee, Nick starts his new day.

A Coffee in Berlin quotes

  • Julika Hoffmann: [to a thug] what kinda guy are you? Let me guess. You were born an alcoholic because your mom couldn't stay off the booze during her pregnancy. How could she, when she got beaten up by daddy when he came home from the pub?

  • Café-Shop Angestellte: So, what it'll be?

    Niko Fischer: Coffee, please.

    Café-Shop Angestellte: To go, right?

    [pause]

    Café-Shop Angestellte: What kind?

    Niko Fischer: Just normal coffee.

Café-Shop Angestellte: Wanna try something new? Today's special is the Marocchino. For 2 Euros extra, you get a doughnut or a seed roll, all homemade and organic.

Niko Fischer: I think I'll stick with the coffee.

Café-Shop Angestellte: Sure, we've got two kinds: the Arabica and the Columbia Morning.

Niko Fischer: Which coffee tastes most like a regular coffee?

    Café-Shop Angestellte: I like both.

Niko Fischer: I'll take the Columbia.

    Café-Shop Angestellte: The Columbia, then.

    [pause]

Café-Shop Angestellte: You want milk. We've got soy milk.

    Niko Fischer: No, thanks.

Café-Shop Angestellte: Okay, then. Three Euros forty, please.

Niko Fischer: Without today's special. Just the coffee.

    Café-Shop Angestellte: Yes, three forty.

Niko Fischer: Three forty for a regular coffee?

Café-Shop Angestellte: Yeah, that's the Columbia.
