From the production point of view, this is a textbook-like American documentary, and the documentary veteran Steve James, who has directed Hoop Dreams, has reached the state of perfection in all aspects. The film has many elements that are destined to be successful: R. Ebert is a TV star who has left a lot of video material; the autobiography of the same name is like a natural script; the scenes in the hospital are very visually and emotionally shocking; it is not a classic It is undoubtedly a masterpiece

I have a more vivid understanding of E's life and what kind of person he is. The depiction of the work is relatively marginal, lacking enough serious criticism, and the amount of information is not large enough. It is basically a fan movie. It is sincere and interesting.

Roger Ebert: When I mentioned in my blog that I could no longer eat, drink, or speak, a reader wrote, "Do you miss it?" Not so much, really. I lived in a world of words long before I was aware of it. The new reality took shape slowly. My blog became my voice, my outlet. It let loose the flood of memories. They came pouring forth in a flood of relief.

Roger Ebert: From the day the Chicago Tribune made Gene Siskel its film critic, we were professional enemies. For the first five years we knew one another, Siskel and I hardly spoke. When Gene and I were asked to work together on a TV show, we both said we'd rather do it with someone else. Anyone else.
