First of all, figure out what you want to do: Jodorowsky just wants to make a science fiction film that will leave everyone stunned, with the philosophy and worldview he wants to express. So he naturally wouldn't shoot a typical Hollywood sci-fi film of that era that followed the style of others. So he naturally had to think about what new methods to express, such as painting style and prop design. He doesn't care if this can be made, or he is optimistic that it will be made.
Then, try to find whoever you need to find, and do what you need to do. For example, look for comics, props, Dalí, yes, Dali with a beard and draw clocks, and fat Orson Welles. This process is a bit like a real rpg game, for example, in order to find Welles, he must first invite his favorite chef. Also, resolutely don't find people who are different from each other to play with. Of course, these two types of people should not be like each other. After watching this documentary, my first impression is that it is not easy to make a niche film, which is probably similar to the difficulty of researching non-mainstream fields and getting funding.
I found someone and got a pen to start up funding. Of course, I got it from my old partner Michel Seydoux (the uncle of Xiaoqing lea seydoux), so what should I do? The script is drawn from comics, and the props are dark and unique. In order to make the son's actions realistic, he specially invited a teacher to teach fighting. Normal young and middle-aged people will probably sigh with emotion when they see it: a group of madmen who are persistent, ideal and active.
The last thing I really appreciate is that he doesn't cherish himself, and distributes their scripts to many studios in LA. Of course, this is also because in order to continue to find funds to invest, they have to come up with something to convince others to continue throwing money. Therefore, what is said in the film: This unfinished documentary is like the asteroid that passed by the earth in the past. Although there was no specific collision, it sowed the seeds for countless future. Pieces and looks that we have come to think of as classics, in the 1970s, were considered too niche to get their chance from paper to screen.
Last but not least, if you want everyone to praise it, don't take it out!
Although it tells a sad little story about making a movie, it is full of positive energy. That night half a year ago, I drove to a distant movie theater to watch nonsensical movies of the literary and artistic minority. After watching it, I was very excited for a long time.
All the little classmates who claim to have ideals/dreams etc can go and see it. Because the subjects to be recorded are so different, as long as the story of how to make an unfinished film is recorded plainly, it is an outstanding documentary.
