And he felt that there were no loopholes in the film, and the watch that fell into the lake with the two corpses, etc. Mort should have left a lot of evidence enough to convict himself.
Even if it took less than 1/3 of a long time to guess that Mort was schizophrenic, the ending is still touching. Is he really schizophrenic, or is it just to find a reason for what he did. . . Unpredictable people. . . Psychologically scared. Is it possible for anyone to become a mort? Including ourselves. . .
