Although many sections in the novel have been deleted due to length reasons, the film itself is still quite exciting, but it is a pity that the film is a bit difficult to understand for people who have no knowledge of the Cold War. And because the director and the producer are more pursuing "realism", the whole film feels a bit dull, but I believe people who are familiar with military knowledge or submarine warfare, such as me, seem to be more interested in it. The general rule is that if military movies have no women or only embellished women, it will not be too bad.
There are many details in the film that are worth noting. One is that the first shot of the Red October sailing is a full-scale model, but under the shell is a tugboat. All underwater shots were actually taken in smoke. Sean Connery’s Russian is a problem, and he wears a wig as Captain Ramis. Most of the Russian sailors are descendants of Russian immigrants from the United States. In addition to their looks, many of them do not even speak Russian. James Earl Jones, who plays the CIA director, is the actor who voiced Darth Vader in Star Wars.
