The film was inspired by the Belgian veterinary assassination in 1995, but the director vehemently denied that it was based on a true gangster incident. The male protagonist is played by Matthias Schoenaier, a down-and-out boxing man in Rust and Bone. He is muscular and incomparably powerful. Regardless of whether the plot is similar to reality or not, this is a consistent European-style film that focuses on humanistic feelings, friendship and betrayal, innocence and violence. Although the bridges are a bit messy, the characters are complex and changeable, and the times shuttle each other, as long as you follow the progress, you can still see why, there is no lack of warmth and delicacy, and it is unique.
It's just that I feel so sad for Jack. Why is it so unlucky? When I was a child, I was smashed by the gangster's son. He was arrested again on the spot. And all this grief, anger and suffering have been finally struggled and vented. The scene when Jack violently assaulted the police in the elevator and finally collapsed in a pool of blood was a bit like a Hong Kong-style gangster movie. Perhaps, this is just a trick played by the huge hand of fate on weak creatures.
