More suitable for children than the original

Comparing all the prototypes of the Disney princess movies, Snow White is undoubtedly the silly and most naive one. I can't even imagine how low IQ was that she was deceived by similar tricks three times in a row. In the movie, the screenwriter drastically cut off two murders and only kept the poisoned apple, which not only reduced Snow White's stupidity, but also weakened the dark atmosphere of the original. The rest of the story is actually quite thin, but Disney actually used his traditionally good song and dance scenes and funny clips to hold up for 80 minutes, and it didn't make people feel bored.

The main reason is probably the successful setting of 7 dwarfs with different personalities. Thinking about it further, these seven people also constitute a very interesting community. The doctor is an intelligent leader who rules not through force but through experience. When working in the mine, he was the only one who identified gems without manual labor. Grumpy is the de facto second-in-command. His role can be understood as whip, which regulates the behavior of everyone else through provocation. The rest constitutes the bottom layer in the community, but there is the bottom layer below the bottom layer, the fool who has no beard and can't speak. This role seems to represent the apprentices in the traditional craftsman group, indicating that young = inexperienced = incapable = no right to speak.

As for the princess and queen, according to the current aesthetic standards, Snow White is probably too sweet and greasy, but the queen may be more pleased.

Grumpy: I don't know, but I'm agin' 'em.

  • Grumpy: [to Doc] Hah! We know who *we* are! Ask her who she is, and what she's a-doin' here!

Doc: Ah, yes. Now what are you, and who are you doin'?
