The U.S. box office champion throughout the 1950s was Glenn Miller (1954), followed by director Michael Gordon, Doris Day and Rock Hudson (1925). -1985) starring in the romantic comedy "Pillow Talk" (Pillow Talk, 1959) (the film won the Oscar for Best Screenplay that year). A middle-class New York man and woman, Broadway playboy songwriter Brad and single interior decorator Jane, are at odds over sharing a phone line, and the former tricks Jane into falling in love by pretending to be a polite Texas traveler. There is a moment when the truth is revealed... The love soap opera stereotype is unique in its obscenity style in the context of conservative folk customs and consumer culture in the 1950s: sexual innuendos and gay jokes are wrapped in elegant and gorgeous coats carefully designed by designers. In the following decade, it had a profound influence on "sex comedy" movies and TV series in American popular culture. Doris and Roque later co-produced two "sequels": "Beautiful Phoenix" (1961) and "Famous Flowers" (1964).

The Eisenhower-era propaganda that women could be happy only if they were married and had children (which fits with the patriarchal view of gender that the film "Happy Ending" veiled); the romantic comedy also caters to the fantasies of countless housewives fed up with the tediousness of middle-class suburban life. Tall and handsome, Rock has always been an "out of the closet" gay, and has fascinated countless female audiences with his successful portrayal of a charismatic heterosexual man on screen. He died of AIDS in 1985 (supposedly infected by a blood transfusion due to heart surgery), and his homosexuality was widely discussed publicly, which also promoted American society's understanding of gay culture and attention to AIDS prevention and treatment.
