You murdered your own god by an accident

I haven't been this excited to watch a movie in a long time. Reminds me of "The Matrix" more than ten years ago, both are abstract philosophical films, fables about autocracy, democracy, rule, faith, science, and utopia. Of course, "Zardoz" is no match for "The Matrix" in terms of amazing and admirable characters and special effects. It is strongly suspected that this play accounts for most of the cost of Sean Connery's salary, and the characters in shorts. The special effects of images and plastic sheets, the marine plankton dressed as DNA analysis maps, are not even at the level of Chinese science fiction films.
However, a good-looking drama is the most difficult to express among all movies in terms of content rather than packaging. It's a pity that not everyone can appreciate good things. When the film was released in 1974, it attracted scolding and scolding. Thinking of the scenery of "The Matrix", it once again verified the old saying: "Half a step ahead of the times is a genius, ahead of the times. Three steps are stupid."

You murdered your own god by an accident
"You accidentally killed your own god."
This line almost died of laughter. Think that God did "accidentally" kill, but this carelessness, not only from mortals, but also God himself "careless", or deliberately negligent after getting tired of "immortality"; It is Arthur who pretends to be too boring to pretend to be God. Arthur taught Zade to read, presumably hoping to die at the hands of this barbarian one day.
The movie chose a book that "lost innocence" for Zade. It was actually "The Adventures of Oz" (the American version of "The Wizard of Oz"), which made people laugh for a long time. Wang Xiaobo said that in "A Foreign Devil's Travels in China" "Losing innocence in this book; it seems that it is common to lose innocence in a certain book; looking back on myself, there has never been a book so unforgettable; however, reading has always made people lose innocence, even if it is a book. This "full of innocence" book will also have the opposite effect, depending on how you read it!
I wonder what season the movie was filmed in, and if Sean Connery had a cold, because Zade, a savage, ran around shirtless throughout the film, but this scene really made me appreciate the "sexiest" man" charm. I'm not just talking about Sean Connery's dazzling chest hair, masculine moustache. The last time I saw people discussing "sexy" on the Internet, it is rare for Chinese people to understand that "sexy" does not mean "pretty", and "beautiful" does not mean "sexy", but what is "sexy"? No one seems to have given a precise definition. I'd like to take this Zade played by Sean Connery as "sexy". Sexy is a state of existence without self-apologetic guilt, without flattery or self-pity, living calmly and confidently.
"Knowledge" and "sexual instinct" have always been the driving force behind the destruction of heaven and the destruction of God.

After reading the introduction beforehand, I know that Zade finally kidnapped a woman from heaven to be his wife. So when Aunt Xia came on stage, she thought it was hers. Who knew that most of the show, Zade and Mei, the old woman, had a lot of fun. go out. It was unexpected that the dog and the man would end up together. But think about it, it seems to have its inevitability. The gods and goddesses in heaven all have some human "blemishes". The least flawed and the most divine is Conswella. She is neither curious nor eager. When she saw Zade, she instinctively felt it. "Theocracy" is threatened by "mortals". Zade is finally destined to marry a woman, reproduce, and continue human history, so find Conswella. Because mortals need to be combined with "gods" to become gods and immortal. Man, and God, must always be one of them. Only the myth can continue, and the history can continue.

However, how Conswella quickly changed from a pursuer to a submissive, the movie is a bit unclear here, I don't understand. Is it true that after absorbing the knowledge of the gods, Zade can become a more advanced "god", so he has the ability to control Conswella's mind?

Although the costumes and background special effects of the whole film are messy, pediatrics; but the last part is really beautiful, on the one hand, the gods in heaven are slaughtered bloody; Dust, life flicks the finger, and opens the next myth. With the background music of figlio perduto, it gives people a sense of infinite vastness.

Zardoz quotes

  • Arthur Frayn: You see, our death-wish was devious, and deep. As Zardoz, Zed, I was able to choose your forefathers! It was careful genetic breeding that produced this mutant - this slave who could free his masters! And Friend was my accomplice! Don't you remember the man in the library, Zed?

    [a chime is heard]

Arthur Frayn: It was I who led you to the 'Wizard of Oz' book! Ha-hah, it was I who gave you access to the Stone! It was I!

    [a chime is heard]

Arthur Frayn: I bred you! I led you!

Zed: And I have looked into the face of the force that put the idea in your mind. You are bred, and led, yourself.

[He strides away, and Friend advances to join Arthur]

Friend: Arthur! We've all been used!

    Arthur Frayn: And re-used.

    Friend: And abused!

    Arthur Frayn: And amused!

    Friend: Sweet death. Oblivion.

Zed: For yourself, or for the whole Vortex?

Friend: For Everybody. An end to the human race. It has plagued this pretty planet for far too long.

Zed: You stink of despair. Fight back! Fight for death, if that's what you want.

Friend: I thought at first you were the one to help. But it's hopeless. All my powers have gone.

Zed: Where is it? The Tabernacle?

Friend: The Tabernacle... is... I can't remember!

Zed: Who made it? Someone must know how to break it.

Friend: Yes, but you can meet him for yourself! One of our founders, one of the geniuses who discovered immortality.

[Friend goes to the bed of the Old Scientist and, rousing him noisily, shouts]

Friend: We want to die! Hm? What - what's the trick?

Old Scientist: [feebly] Death... death... Talk to May! May!
